26CornerBlitz
2-17: SPORTSNET'S JOHN SHANNON TALKS STAMKOS ON WGR (14:36) @JeremyWGR In short: I don't think you can talk about Stamkos, and not include the Sabres. It makes too much sense. Per @JSportsnet
26CornerBlitz
Haters, got to be hating that....He'll have a bad game sooner than later and we can go back to bashing him.... He will get the Kaleta reputation and will be suspended frequently. he got a pass against the Sabres, but he'll be closely watched from here on out... @TheHockeyNews Will league make an example of Radko Gudas, who earned his third match penalty in two weeks? @THNMattLarkin's blog: http://bit.ly/249fbrG

Problem is this hit will be ruled to be shoulder to shoulder, and therefore not suspendable. Teams need to go old school hockey on this idiot and his team...start dropping the gloves when their stars are on the ice...if the Sabres would have done this instead of trying to score in a lost t game maybe this guy not on the ice last night. and what will really kill me is if the NHL does suspend him, the NHLPA will come to his defense...fight for the one constituent while he is endangering your entire constituency...I have never understood that logic. Did I read that right, he got a match penalty for that? I saw interference and nothing else... well, that and the embellishment from the player staying down for a while. I know we can't judge this single hit in a vacuum, but I can't see that being the one that puts him over the edge.
26CornerBlitz
@JeremyWGR Good read here from James Neal at @PlayersTribune - On shooter release, some stuff about Bylsma http://www.theplayerstribune.com/james-neal-predators-sniper/ @WGR550 Caggiula: the forgotten free agent. Story by @BJWilsonWGR http://bit.ly/1TqyOry The National Hockey League's free agency period this upcoming July could be one of the most anticipated free agency days in many years. Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos could be hitting the market as an unrestricted free agent, free to sign with any team that offers him the right contract. But there is one notable name that is set to hit the free agent market, and he could be available as soon as late March.Drake Caggiula (KA-jewel-uh) is a senior playing at the University of North Dakota with the Fighting Hawks. Caggiula, 21, is having a stellar season in North Dakota, as he has 15 goals and 17 assists in 25 games. Caggiula will hit the free agent market once his season has come to an end in Grand Forks. Would be great to sign this kid.

I really don't know the rule here...the puck is what...80 feet up the ice? Is it just a minor to run anybody you want wherever on the ice? I think intent to injure can be called no? Is intent to injure not suspendable? Edited February 17, 2016 by plenzmd1

Really late, but still just a body check. You could hand out "intent to injure" about 100 times per game if you really think about it. What is a punch in the head away from the play? It's a 2 minute penalty. Edited February 17, 2016 by thebug

Can't wait till this idiot takes out Crosby or OV right before the playoffs...then ole Pronger may have a different tune. Christ, this league just does not get it sometime

The intent to injure is exactly what they called him for. That's the purpose of a match penalty. I didn't realize that's what they called at first, but looking at the box score, it's not listed as anything but match penalty.

plenzmd1
That suspension is tough spot for the league. I personally don't think he did it on purpose, but the flip side is setting precedent for anybody to claim a concussion after doing something bad on ice. And contrary to what people think, there is no way to "see" a concussion. Is based on answers on a baseline test and some physical manisifitaions, like headaches, aversion to light, dizziness etc. No X-Ray or CAT scan or MRI can show a concussion. And if I think I did something suspendable,, I might want to sit out three games and get paid with a concusison diagnosis than sit out three games and not get paid. Tough spot. drinkTHEkoolaid
I think Bailey got a taste of the show and it will motivate him. He showed a few good flashes of potential. I think he will develop into a contributor in the next year or
