Big C Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Quite honestly....I am ready to proceed on without him. Darby is the future True, but we will need to see if he and/or Butler can sustain their solid play over the next few games. Leo could be traded when he gets healthy in that case, but right now let's be happy about the depth!
billsfan89 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 True, but we will need to see if he and/or Butler can sustain their solid play over the next few games. Leo could be traded when he gets healthy in that case, but right now let's be happy about the depth! Even if Darby or Butler plays great alongside Gilmore as the number 1 and Robey out the nickle or dime then having McKelvin step in as the 4th corner is great. Depth is key, even in the best case scenario Darby and Butler play well and McKelvin sits the bench and the team has tremendous depth in case of injury. In the NFL it's the teams with Depth that win. Also the team could entertain an offer via trade if Darby and Butler are that good.
Maury Ballstein Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Quite honestly....I am ready to proceed on without him. Darby is the future Depth is good. Move one of them to the slot.
Doc Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Quite honestly....I am ready to proceed on without him. Darby is the future Maybe move on next year. He's already bought and paid for this year.
Nanker Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Good to know that no other Bill is going to get dinged up and perhaps miss a game or two.
John from Riverside Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Maybe move on next year. He's already bought and paid for this year. To be honest I am quite curious about Butler's ability..... Kid looks good especially for a reserve
Chandler#81 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 If he's cleared and healthy enough to practice, he'll play. Why would he need a extra couple of weeks if he's already healthy and cleared to play? Heard a good discussion about this on NFLRadio last night. Polian was talking about a Colt he had that needed a plate & screw in his foot for a metatarsil (sp) break. He was 'Cleared to go' medically but the soreness, tentativeness and over relying on the other foot for a few games really hampered his reurn. Just thought Id throw this in here..
atlbillsfan1975 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Good news, i hope Mckelvin gets back soon and looks as good as he did last year. It helps to have options, for the field and the negotiating table(Gilmore).

IDBillzFan Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I seem to be one of the few people who would be perfectly happy if Leodis never played for the Bills again. He's done more bad than he's ever done good, and then when he does something well...he's struttin' like all he does is lower the boom. Pass.
Big C Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Depth is good. Move one of them to the slot. Don't you dare suggest someone supplant Robey in the slot!
26CornerBlitz Posted October 10, 2015 Author Posted October 10, 2015 Fan Friday 10-9 The Bills have another bounce back game on the road just like two weeks ago in Miami. Here’s hoping it’s a repeat performance. Here’s your latest edition of questions from email at AskChris@bills.nfl.net and on Twitter at @ChrisBrownBills. 2 – @ChrisBrownBills what’s the word on McKelvin? JamesKnapp21 CB: McKelvin has made some good strides the last couple of weeks. He’s starting to do real football work on the side now with the athletic trainers. He was pulling an athletic trainer while working on his backpedal with straps attached to his body. The athletic trainer was holding the ends of the straps and McKelvin was pulling him down the field. He’s certainly worked hard to get all the way back and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s practicing again the first week he’s eligible to do so, which is the week leading up to the London game against Jacksonville. Whether he’s activated off the Reserve/NFI list is another story.
papazoid Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I like mckelvin, he's getting better under Donnie Henderson. his $4.9 mil cap hit is a hair high, but not crazy for his skill set and position. but this is his last year on the team, no matter what he does. his contract is set up to where next season there is only $1 mil in dead money if cut and the fact they drafted Darby puts the writing on the wall. it's like hearing the bills tried to trade up to get RB carlos hyde....you knew fred's days were numbered.
dulles Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Quite honestly....I am ready to proceed on without him. Darby is the future This is likely the reason McK would be eager to play and play well. He's gotta know that he'll be pressed for snap count and that will effect his upcoming contract negotiations.

Maybe we restructure to keep him? He is quality depth at this point, IMO. By the way, with the emergence of Darby, the Bills have a interesting dilemma. Can't pay both Gilmore and Darby big bucks. I think they let one walk.
bigK14094 Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 (edited) McKelvin in the last couple of years has shown the ability to make INT's although Darby has done some of that, our alleged #1(gilmore) has only a few picks in all his years as a Bill (maybe 2, not sure) A good cover CB is great, but the int capable guy is even more valuable. If the Bills don't get a Great offer for McKelvin in the trade market for next year, look for him to still be on the roster day one 2016. Starting CB talent is rare and valuable....and he is one. And, he is paid fair value for his ability. It took him some years to learn to play, but he know how now...... And, despite all of Darby's success, I remember the troubles he had off the field at FSU.....and feel pretty good Bills have Leodis still coming back, maybe for just the year....none the less....Darby has been great on field...not sure how he is doing off field. harv shitz Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Quite honestly....I am ready to proceed on without him. Darby is the future Me,too. Was never impressed with McKelvin, and Darby is already better. McKelvin has been the weak link in this defense for years.

Darby's on 2nd round draft rookie contract for the next four years. McKelvin really improved over the last couple of years and 4 mil is not a lot for a CB. He'll play his ass off once he gets out there as he's working for his next contract.
Buffalo_Stampede Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 (edited) If McKelvin can return and Darby continues all year at this rate, IMO it's a blessing. You can then extend McKelvin at a cheap rate, trade Gilmore for a 1st round pick, and have a lot of room to sign Bradham, Glenn, Incognito, and Tyrod (hopefully) Darby becomes #1,McKelvin #2,and Roby slot locked up for years. You don't trade players of Gilmore's caliber, you find ways to keep them.
