Webster Guy Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 (edited) Cant seem to figure this one out. The last game he played (superbowl) he turns on the burners and takes one all the way for a TD. Yesterday the wind guaranteed two quarters of returnable kicks and we have the best kick return guy in the NFL watching from the sidelines. Whats the deal? Edited September 14, 2015 by Webster Guy
NoSaint Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 We can save the best for offense since we have an excellent on the squad
Coastie Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 We can save the best for offense since we have an excellent on the squad My thoughts as well, the gain on returns is less than the loss on offense were he to get hurt in my opinion. Now there may be a point where we have to go all in and risk the injury but I don't think we are there by any means.

The last game he played was vs Miami on 12/28. Remember when he took a nap in the end zone last year. Plus he is fragile. Imo Edited September 14, 2015 by Leroi
djp14150 Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 We put him out gird pencils occasions later in the season when winds likely prevent touchbacks.
GunnerBill Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Didn't we keep Thiggy precisely as the return expert? He does both - that is what makes him worth his spot.
LB3 Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Thigpen has shown to be very effective on returns. Why risk him when you can get similar production from Thigpen. In a pinch, in an important game, throw Percy back there.

NoSaint Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 ?????? If he has to explain, you'll never understand

He played for the Jets. They didn't make the playoffs.
YoloinOhio Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Percy Harvin didn't play in the Superbowl. He played for the Jets. They didn't make the playoffs. pretty sure he meant the Super Bowl with Seattle where he lit it up.
EmotionallyUnstable Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I'm cool with Thigpen. He has shown he can be a great play maker. Our success on ST is more dependent on the execution of the other role players. I think keeping Harvin healthy to have as an offensive weapon, while utilizing Thigpen's explosion, is the right combination
Fixxxer Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I always prefer that the KO and PR are especialists only. That guy will always try to avoid stupid decisions because it's their jobs on the line. I don't want a punt catcher, mind you, but guys like Harvin or McKelvin will always think they can score on every opportunity they get and might not be aware of certain situations during a game.
YoloinOhio Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I like Thigpen - he's smart back there.
LB3 Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 (edited) I like Thigpen - he's smart back there. This is a really good point. Percy, as a star player, is given more leeway with the decisions he makes. He would be more likely to take a ball deep out of the endzone because wants to make a play. Thigpen, as strictly a return guy, should know better. Edited September 15, 2015 by LBSeeBallLBGetBall
Malazan Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Percy Harvin didn't play in the Superbowl. He played for the Jets. They didn't make the playoffs. i He said the last game he played..which was not the Superbowl..
jeffismagic Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 If we make the playoffs, Percy will be used on teams. This early in the season I am fine with keeping him healthy.
