Big C Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 While it was bizarre and was most likely designed so no one won our "guess the first play contest," does this play have anything to do with some loophole in Tyrod's contract that prevents him from making more by not technically starting at QB? I just have no idea why they would lead with that play if it wasn't to activate some bonus.

Dorkington Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I think it was purely to get in the opponents head. I think it was a stupid play.
clayboy54 Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 It was to appease the jerks at WGR who predicted Cassel would start the season!
Deranged Rhino Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I wonder less about Tyrod's contract because of this play and more about Cassel -- did he hit an easy incentive bonus by getting a start?
NoSaint Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I think it was purely to get in the opponents head. I think it was a stupid play. It easily could've gone for 15 and you'd like it. Miss a block and it's dumb. It effectively told Indy to expect the kitchen sink to be thrown so they have to respect every option. And that pressure was kept on with harvin motioning from behind TT in the shotgun shortly after. That we are willing to do the unusual creates space for the usual to succeed.
Kelly the Dog Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 He was on the field and therefore made the start. So, no. It was hopes of throwing Indy a curve. I thought that Cassel had something in his contract about starts. I wonder if it is per game or something more about 8 or more.

Two QBs on the field at the same time when we only have two dressed, makes this a risky play and incredibly unnecessary.
Big C Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 Is this a hot take? I don't like it. Yes, was trying my best Joe B.
NoSaint Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I thought that Cassel had something in his contract about starts. I wonder if it is per game or something more about 8 or more. They, um, could've just paid him more when he resigned if it was a compensation thing with that play. I suspect Rex and roman schemed it up in the "we aren't telling anyone who the starter is" phase of camp and just decided to go with it to push the "be ready for anything" angle even though clear TT was the real guy.
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Rex commented that every time they tried it in practice it yielded a TD. he even told Terry and refs to wait and see this play. not a great first play call but does add element of maybe hand off to TT and have him throw it long to Sammy. Who knows just something to add to film to prepare for

I thought it was a terrible idea, obviously because it was a disaster. Rex was funny after the game, saying how it worked great in practice and he joked to El Petulante and the referees before the game saying, wait til you see this. Oops.
Leroi Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I believe an extension is due for T-mob, this week or next. Imo

Later in the game, maybe.

dubs Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Is this a hot take? I don't like it. Hah. Nice!
DC Tom Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 He was on the field and therefore made the start. So, no. It was hopes of throwing Indy a curve. Dumbest !@#$ing curve ever. You know the play sucks when people are reminiscing about CJ up the middle.
