Mark Vader Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 Sorry if this was already posted. Looks like we won't get a homecoming for Steve Christie after all. Here's the quote: Jaguars cut kicker Christie, two others NFL.com wire reports JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Sept. 3, 2004) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars released three players, including veteran kicker Steve Christie. The Jaguars signed Christie last week in an effort to stabilize their kicking situation. Rookie Josh Scobee had missed three of four field goal attempts in the first two preseason games. But Christie never got a chance to kick in either of the Jaguars' final two preseason games. Scobee made three field goals in a 9-7 victory against the Green Bay Packers on Aug. 27. He made a 31-yarder against the New England Patriots and had a 51-yarder nullified by a holding call in the Jaguars' 31-0 victory on Sept. 2.
CajunBillsBacker Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 dammit Lindell, why did you have to have a solid preseason, now we have no need for Christie to stabilize our kicking situation.
MikeG Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 Christie's salary would be too much anyway... league minimum for him is way too much for a kicker... uless we have room... do we have room under the cap?
njsue Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 Didn't Tom Donahoe release due to an injury. Christie depart on ugly terms. There was an injury settlement I believe.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 Plus Christie 3 years ago was terrible on kick offs too. Lindell seems to have improved in that area this year so far. Personally I'd like to see them use Mormon a few times on kick offs just to save Lindells leg for end of season. Not too much to tire Mormans leg out, but maybe 20% of time just ot keep Lindell's leg fresh. Then again, if we don't score much, his leg will stay nice and fresh for one kick off per game!
