It was 4th grade, she wasn't a "Spanish" teacher. Just a regular teacher that taught all the subjects.

You say a person's name the way that person wants you to say it. There is no other version. Telling kids to learn their "spanish" name is like asking what their "porn star" name is... it only teaches you that people will try to change you to suit their worldview.

It's the same with the reporter. She needs to say the name the way the locals do because that is how it evolved. Trying to say that she's using the original pronunciation is a ridiculous excuse since language changes constantly. She might as well add a few clicks and grunts in there from our African ancestors if she wants to go that route.

The more likely reason is that she in incapable of saying it properly so she falls back on her "cultural" crutch.

Wow.

I have a girl in my office that does that and it always annoys the hell out of me. A friend of mine put it best: He pointed out that his last name is Davis, Davis is an Irish name, but nobody feels the need to pronounce it with a thick Irish accent.

It's not even a matter of using an American accent, it's a matter of speaking with her own accent rather than acting like a pretentious !@#$.

I have no issues with using a proper pronounciation for Spanish names. But to read everything in a non-Spanish accent and then suddenly interject a heavy Spanish accent just for the names or specific things seems a bit of a douche thing to do. And yeah I would bang, she isn't hot but very sexable.

This whole discussion is stupid. Rise to a better level people. Everybody would be ripping on the bubble headed bleach blond that comes on @ nine if she was talking like an idiot. Oh dear God, are people for real? Elevate yourself!

Let her talk to the best of her ability... I can't believe my eyes... People are so lazy, they want to dumb her down! People should be happy and positive that she speaks the proper way w/words

WTF... This is exactly what's wrong w/the "American" way. You get somebody on the news who can actually articulate herself in her native tongue and God-given ability and people are ripping her for being pretentious.

Like I said before... People must be really insecure about themselves. Oh, it's AZ. I see no problem w/that "wall thing" being green-lighted down there.

Oh the horror! Stone this lady... Welcome to Idiocracy 2015.

Holy Moly! The dumbing down of a society!

So in other words when she says "amarillo" she should say: Am-a-Rill-O. I got no problem w/her educating people by saying: Am-a-Rree-O. Because you know why? That's the way it should be said. Why didn't they just name it Yellow, Texas in the first place if they wanted English?

Not to take this into the realm of PPP beastiality... There was a certain POTUS that was introducing the both the leaders from Canada and Mexico to the press... Didn't he say something about translating in French and "Mexican." Pure Gold.

Hey... "Candy everybody wants, give 'em what they want... If the minds are soft and lazy, growing hazy... Give 'em what they want." You would think this anchor would be commended for articulating nicely... Instead she is ridiculed for being a pompous douchebag. Idiocracy anybody?

And, in PPP earlier tonight, I saw a clip of Biden saying we need a three letter words - Jobs. J O B S.

So, who do I think? Any of these clowns

Yes.

But job is a three letter word. I got a job, you have a job. Not defending some of the stupid stuff Uncle Joe says, but I don't think the plural version counts in the letter count department... Unless you take it literally. Even if it did, it's kinda splitting hairs isn't it. We all want a job.

;-) :-P
