Anything could happen but no point in worrying about it till the year is over. Who knows Roman maybe an terrible interviewer or lacks head coaching aura. We dont know how high he finished on the Bill's list but he didnt get the job so there must have been something that worked against him.

You can pay coaches as much as you want Terry.....there is no cap... :)

This. Pay him more than most HCs make and lock him up for the next 3-5 years, so when Rex retires (after his 3rd SB victory here) we can simply promote G-Ro and keep on going.

I don't think Roman is the next Pettine. At the end of the day, Pettine turned what was an average defense into a top-5 defense in the league. I don't see Roman doing the same. His offenses in San Francisco were consistently average to above average, but certainly not blowing anyone away. Unless Tyrod has a banner year, would a team really want to make "average to above average" their plan for their team? I doubt it. I think Roman could stick around for a couple of years.

Getting a little ahead of ourselves, but yes, if he turns this offense around he'll be a candidate for a head coach. Hard to say how many openings there will be (bet on Washington!) and how much he'll be valued.

I tend to think there'll be less of a rush on him. The top tier teams wouldn't go for him yet, I don't think. There's no way the Browns hire another Buffalo assistant if the last one doesn't work out. Other possibilities are out there, but I'd expect that we get at least 2 years under Roman. Those expectations go down if we make the playoffs with solid offensive play, and they go down dramatically if we get a playoff win. AFC championship appearance with good offensive play, and he's in the mix for any team with a vacancy.

Well first of all, it's kind of nice to have the idea of someone poaching our OC to be a problem worth considering.

I do think it's possible, and I definitely think he would take the job if offered. That said, a lot would have to happen:

One, the offense would have to do well here. But then you strange paradox that, if the offense is good and the defense is as advertised, the Bills should absolutely be going deep into the playoffs and the further you go it becomes harder for you to be interviewed.

Second, Roman is a run game specialist. If it's going to be effective you have to be built as a run first team with a great running back and stout defense. That will limit teams who are interested.
