jumbalaya Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 EJ or Matt?? Is EJ on the trading block? We could get something for him after his preseason showing.
Pete Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 EJ IMO. My guess is Whaley is trying to work a trade for EJ- trying to fetch decent draft pick. He is offering Cassel too IMO, but he won't net much. If no deal is made, EJ is backup and Cassel is cut is my call
VABills Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I think the second string QB isn't even on the roster. EJ likely traded and can't run an option offense and Cassel can't run the option offense.
Fixxxer Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) I like Tyrod but putting all the eggs in one basket would be very stupid at this point. Trading EJ right now would be insane, he should be the back-up in case Tyrod is not up to the challenge. Edited September 1, 2015 by Fixxxer
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I'm for EJ Manuel. The upside he potentially offers, outweighs the Cassel is perfect to throw into a game in the spur of the moment as some have stated.
Prickly Pete Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) I'll go on record as saying EJ will be the 2, and Cassel will be cut. Edited September 1, 2015 by HoF Watkins
stony Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I think the second string QB isn't even on the roster. EJ likely traded and can't run an option offense and Cassel can't run the option offense. Are we running a straight option offense?
VABills Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Are we running a straight option offense? I suspect it will be close to what the 49ers did with Kap. He wasn't a great QB, bu with the Roman poption, it was a nice hybrid. I suspect we'll be close to that. TT can hurt you from pocket as he has a good arm, plus can take off if you don't respect it. But at same time give him a short/long option to one side and he'll kill you as he's faster than Kap, plus can make that throw.
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Are we running a straight option offense? Going with the bone now!
Buffaloed in Pa Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 E.J. if T.T.s legs go. Injury ,what not E.J. will be ready.
Solomon Grundy Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 This article by Brian Billick has me feeling better about EJs future as a Bill. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000519135/article/tyrod-taylor-over-ej-manuelmatt-cassel-right-move-for-bills
Alphadawg7 Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 FWIW Rex has said multiple times he plans on keeping all 3. So lets assume all 3 remain...TT is clearly the starter now, so I would assume EJ is the #2 given he had a great preseason and the game plan wouldn't have to change drastically like it would with Dr. Boring Cassel
EmotionallyUnstable Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I actually love this situation. EJ has shown promise and appears to be making significant progress in year 3. I think EJ as the 2 will be, again, a great learning experience. It will also provide him with an opportunity to refine his game. Come next year, it is possible that EJ will show to be the guy, but right now I believe Rex made the right call. EJ as the 2 and give Cassel his papers
VADC Bills Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 You keep EJ and let Cassel go. My gut tells me EJ will be starting a few games this year.
White Linen Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I don't want either EJ or Cassel going anywhere. EJ showed he still has a future and Cassel is the perfect guy to have on your roster because he's a guy that excels in short passes and takes little risks.
KOKBILLS Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I like Tyrod but putting all the eggs in one basket would be very stupid at this point. Trading EJ right now would be insane, he should be the back-up in case Tyrod is not up to the challenge. Thank you...My sentiments exactly...
Pete Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 OK- so what if a team offered a #1 pick for EJ? Do you make that deal? So many teams are QB starved. I would not be surprised if someone offered a #1
Kirby Jackson Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I think that if Tyrod gets hurt Cassel enters the game. If Tyrod misses a game or more EJ plays those weeks. OK- so what if a team offered a #1 pick for EJ? Do you make that deal? So many teams are QB starved. I would not be surprised if someone offered a #1Of course you would make that deal but no one is offering that.
NoSaint Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 OK- so what if a team offered a #1 pick for EJ? Do you make that deal? So many teams are QB starved. I would not be surprised if someone offered a #1 You'd be lucky to see a round that can be counted to using one hand. If Ej moves, it's about clearing the cap, not getting a great pick.
