Chandler#81
I have no doubt Glazer is reporting what he has been told---and is confident in the source. What I'm saying (and apparently doing a poor job of) is that if the leak is coming from outside the Bills organization, it could be a mis-direct or poor lead. Now I don't expect that is what it is, given Glazer didn't say "probably" but reported it as a done deal. But I thought his description of his source was a bit odd. I don't think it's any of this. I think the brass came to the realization that it would be impossible to keep the lid on in this instant news world. Think about it, QB X is named the starter. He and the other QBs text their Mom about the results -who all were up last night praying for their sons. QB X's Mom is so thrilled, she tells all the family. Somebody's posting it on Facebook by 11am. -anyway, However it got leaked, there'd be no sense trying to retract it or blaming someone.. Jmo. The Dean
Can't they dress an "emergency" 3rd QB and he can only go in the game if the other two are hurt? Maybe that's an old rule that got changed. I thought they dropped that a couple years ago. Did they bring it back?
WhitewalkerInPhilly
@MoveTheSticks: Tyrod Taylor won't need to produce many points to win games. Defense should dominate. Protect the ball & produce a couple big plays. It's funny, I was called earlier for stressing that Rex and Ryan's plan stresses ball control, time of possession and limiting turnovers. Still, Id have been happy with EJ but Taylor is much, much more preferable to Casssel.
KOKBILLS
For the life of me, I can not understand why Rex started EJ in that game unless it was to showcase him for a trade. Trade him now, his value will never be higher and lets hope Rex's ego doesn't get the better of him, again. His value will never get higher? So...you're certain a 25 year old who is very obviously improving under real NFL coaching in only a few months in the new system, and was not terrible before this improvement with idiots coaching him, is not going to get any better? OK...
26TrapDraw
So....is EJ second string...? If they are smart yes and cut Cassel he can't make that much money to hold a clip board. Also this is good for EJ as it's possible TT gets banged up during the season and I would feel good about EJ coming in.

It was, they did, and Taylor won the competition.
AtlantaStampede
- Taylor is 2-0 against Russell Wilson in college. Similar talent around them - similar experience - so there is some comparison. - Taylor played this style of QB in college and was available all but 1 game in 4 years - I hope you remain wrong. So what you're saying is Tyrod Taylor is the next Russell Wilson? Is that what you're saying? These stats clearly support your argument. I guess our problems at QB are solved. Best Player Available
Of course he is going to dress for the game. If they keep two or if they keep three. Even if he is not on the active list he will dress for the game because he can play. OR they can not dress him if they choose. And the reasons are spelled out. the change was in 11 i believe i know what you are saying. But, Like it says many teams choose not to dress the thrid QB. The reasons are obvious the other two can not re enter the game. Who wants a third stringer playing with the practice squad coming in say in the first half? Or First three quarters. IIRC Chan sometimes dressed only the starter. But yes they can dress three.

So...you're certain a 25 year old who is very obviously improving under real NFL coaching in only a few months in the new system, and was not terrible before this improvement with idiots coaching him, is not going to get any better? OK... His coach appears to have put him at third string, and playing favorites, I'll add. What more chances do you see Manuel getting under Rex? I didn't say I think he's not gonna get better, homes, I think he is gonna get better. If he ever gets a chance to play. And here in Buffalo, he ain't getting the chance to play. gr8billsfan
Excited to see we have our starter named. However TT doesn't protect himself while taking hits. He doesn't slide in the open field and he looks fragile TBH. I stick with EJ. The team wasted the last two years of his and our lives if he doesn't start. He's got the blue collar feel to him. I consider him a Buffalo before TT

These stats clearly support your argument. I guess our problems at QB are solved. I don't think that he is saying that. I think that the point is we do not yet know what Taylor is. We know that there are a segment of really respected coaches (Harbaugh and Kubiak at least) that think very highly of him as a player. He came out in camp and the preseason and moved the team up and down the field and won the job. There is absolutely reason to be optimistic. We will see how it translates once the regular season begins but I do not understand how anyone is not excited by this (at least at this point)? Looks like this is the rule: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/07/22/nfl-drops-third-quarterback-rule-46-active-players-on-game-day/ Teams no longer have the emergency 3rd QB. Instead rosters were expanded from 45 to 46. So in reality they can have EJ (or whoever the third QB is) not dress. *sarcasm on* Which is perfect because we can have a kickoff specialist or 5th TE or 2nd FB dress instead. *sarcasm off* Excited to see we have our starter named. Solomon Grundy
Is a third rd pick really worth the risk of Taylor getting injured or not panning out as a franchise QB while EJ is thriving as a Brown, Redskin...ect.? Bills, QBs and third round picks are spooky enough to even go there IMO. BTW, I actually think Rex made the wrong choice and Manuel should be the Bills starting QB. I totally agree with you!! mannc
However TT doesn't protect himself while taking hits. He doesn't slide in the open field and he looks fragile TBH. This is a silly statement. What makes you think he's fragile? Does he have a history of getting hurt? In TT, I saw a guy with great pocket presence and a keen ability to sense where the rush is coming from and avoid it (unlike EJ). I did not see TT absorb any heavy hits in the preseason. Which means, he wants him to learn from the sidelines as opposed to holding the clipboard like Matt Cassell (a role the veteran is better suited for). In the event that Tyrod goes down for any length of time, I'd bet you'd see EJ starting a game before MC because he's better suited for Roman's offense. MDH
Or against Pitt. He had the big at scores but with out it he cannot move chains. If by "can't" you mean he didnt give himself an opportunity to because he was too busy theowing TD passes...then you'd be correct.
