Well I won't shoot you but I am sad.

Tyrod with the ones, but Cassel with the twos...

Still, Brown called it "not surprising" so Tyrod does seem like the guy.

Well I told you guys on two separate occasions that EJ was not part of the equation to start so it wouldn't surprise me if he was in fact third. Personally however, I thought he showed enough on Saturday to move up to #2. I have a feeling that all three of these guys will take at least a handful of meaningful snaps this season. I hope that's not the case but it's just my gut.

What if the Bills are down two TDs or more mid 3rd quarter when Taylor goes down? Only a crazy person would think ol' noodle arm Matt Cassel is the better option in that situation.

I still think Cassel's going to be cut.

There are risks to any plan. With this defense and the rushing attack we're expected to use, being down two scores late hopefully will not be a common occurrence.

I think we are on the same page here. Cassel is #2 for gameday only (in my thinking). Should TT get injured, EJ becomes the starter the following week. But the possibility with that plan is, should TT go down in a game, and Cassel comes in and manages the game to a win, there is a chance they stay with him for the following week. But if the Bills are winning, I'm cool with whatever they decide.

Yes, if it goes the way I see it, that is true---as long as TT and Cassel are healthy.

Yeah I can go with this.

Truthfully, while I'd rather see EJ in that situation, it is difficult spot for any backup QB. Having a guy who has been around enough to be prepared with limited practice time during the week, is probably better than having a less-experienced, but more talented guy, in that situation. Frank Reich wasn't the most talented QB and he managed to lead a few comebacks in his day.

That sounds about right, providing of course that EJ remains on the team.

Yes, assuming that. I certainly hope he does as we are going with a bit of an unknown with TT (and a guy who may expose himself to a lot of hits) and Cassel who has some limited ability to throw the ball downfield--or so it seems. I can't see the Bills getting any offers to make trading EJ worth their while (especially at what he's getting paid). But it could happen.

If EJ had first round value he would be starting and there would not have been any debate. I suppose anything is possible but I doubt if we could get a 3rd round pick for him.

That said, if the ARE offered a 3rd (or of course higher), my guess is that they will take it and make the trade, and this is nothing but an opinion in a football discussion.

GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is a third rd pick really worth the risk of Taylor getting injured or not panning out as a franchise QB while EJ is thriving as a Brown, Redskin...ect.?

Bills, QBs and third round picks are spooky enough to even go there IMO.

BTW, I actually think Rex made the wrong choice and Manuel should be the Bills starting QB.

I agree. I just thought that it was always a strange argument to make when discussing not naming a starter.

Rex was just messing with the media (and by proxy the message board community). Nothing behind his statement other than just messing with people who took it too seriously.

Feels different to have a coach of that composition. That's definitely a new thing for Buffalo. Vintage Rex though.

For the life of me, I can not understand why Rex started EJ in that game unless it was to showcase him for a trade. Trade him now, his value will never be higher and lets hope Rex's ego doesn't get the better of him, again.

I for one do not, but I certainly respect your opinion.

I'll tell ya my friend, I cannot wait to see more runs like the 21 yd. td vs. the Steelers. I always wanted to see EJ do this, but Tyrod really can motor down the field!

@MoveTheSticks: Tyrod Taylor won't need to produce many points to win games. Defense should dominate. Protect the ball & produce a couple big plays.

What? Nonsense!

Our starting QB barreling through the red zone? C'mon man

Well, you never know with these guys. They might have been trying to evaluate if EJ was worth keeping on the roster and wanted to give him an actual look with the starting OL. I'm also wondering if they wanted to keep the competition ramped up. Starting EJ put a bit of pressure on TT and MC.

And that's why EJ isn't starting. He can do the big play. But can't move sticks consistently.

He can't? Or he didn't last year, with terrible offensive line play and a horrible playbook?

I don't like these games Rex is playing right now, if you can't tell. Just don't have a great gut feeling about today

Or against Pitt. He had the big at scores but with out it he cannot move chains.

Yeah, EJ said "He's not where he wants to be, but getting better". Remember, Alex Smith began the season as the 49ers QB.

Totally different, Cassel is Alex Smith in this equation.

The Bills are starting the rawest, least experienced of all the QBs. EJ is more of a known quantity at this point than Taylor (based just on number of games played). The Bills are starting their "Kaepernick" so to speak. This isn't "play the safe guy until the project is ready." This is playing the project.

Again, can not? One drive he did not. All the others went for big plays. I'm pretty sure he CAN as he did at the end of the Brown's game.

Can't they dress an "emergency" 3rd QB and he can only go in the game if the other two are hurt? Maybe that's an old rule that got changed.
