Jerry Jabber
Some positives from the game last night (in no order):Taylor had another good night, especially since he had none of the starting RB's and WR's. He was 4-4 on 3rd down, had some good passes and made plays with his feet again.Jerry Hughes looked good against the Browns probowl LT, Joe Thomas as he beat him for a sack and was regularly in the backfield.Dareus continued to wreak havoc against a very good Browns O-line.Goodwin made some nice plays, but I feel he is just like Roscoe Parrish, injury prone.Darby had a nice bounce back week as he had two INT's.As the game wore on, I thought Manuel started to look better. I don't know if that had anything to do with the Browns third stringers being put in? Manuel threw good passes on the TD and 2pt conversion.I thought Chris Gragg made some good plays for Manuel as well as Andre Davis.I like Greg Roman's imagination of having both Henderson and Kouandjio on the field at the same time. Roman had Kouandjio lined up as a TE for an extra blocker on a few occasions.Negatives:The backup O-line. The interior of the backups were horrific! I felt sorry for Manuel as he was constantly getting hammered. The backup RB's. I know the Bills are on their 6th, 7th and 8th string RB's (unfortunately, that's not an exaggeration), but they were constanly getting stuffed for no gain.Duke Williams had a rough night. He seemed to do a lot better under Schwartz, but seems lost under Ryan/Thurman.Jon Gruden's announcing! "There's a guy named Nickel, playing at the Nickel." "The Bills have all five starting O-linemen back." "Preston Smith off the field for Kiko Alonso."
BuffaloBill
The reality is the Biils essentially got a bye for this game because it was preseason and they had no running game. It's amazing to see how what may have been the deepest group on the roster, rb, go to nothing so quickly. The situation at wr was not much better. The starting D was playing at 1/2 speed and they were highly impressive. No shock there. The only question is simply how good will they be if they get and stay healthy. Gilmore remains an enigma as he can be brilliant or get burned. Darby was a pleasant surprise given the knock on him in the draft was that he lacked ball hawking skills. The ugliest part of the game was second string o-line. They were atrocious and as a result the depth situation is very concerning.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch
As for your negatives, I wouldn't be so worried about the backup O-line unless we have many injuries and they all have to play at the same time. Having two starters next to three backups, can make those back up's look much better very quickly. I'm beginning to wonder if the odd man out at WR will end up being Easley? I think Goodwin and Thompson have done enough to make the team so comes down to Hogan and Easley. While Easley has been great on ST, Hogan tended to always made the catches in the clutch. Miyagi-Do Karate
I noticed this in the first pre-season game and it continued in this one. They used this guard named Johnson as the back-up LT. If you go back and watch, he was abused on every play off the ball-- such that his guy was in the QB's face in like a second. Last night, they replaced him at one point with I think Kupper, who was maybe even worse. I think this is a bit concerning. It looks like we are going to be going into the season with Kujo as the only viable back-up at tackle-- and while he is improving, I am not sure I am sold on him quite yet, especially in the pass game. Deranged Rhino
Goodwin finished the game last night strong. Fans here are way too harsh on the dude. Football is a rough sport, usually getting dinged up and then going back into the game is a sign of toughness, exactly what you want to see in a football player. Goodwin does it and he's compared to Roscoe. Goodwin is making the final roster and will contribute.

I wouldn't worry about this too much. Kujo has shown improvement and I think if Glenn or Henderson went down, he would be fine. Now, if both went down, sure, we're screwed. Goodwin finished the game last night strong. Fans here are way too harsh on the dude. I think Goodwin just reacts to about every little one of them.

Deranged Rhino
Apparently a lot of people. And it's silly. Worry when he doesn't come back into the game, not when the guy comes back in (as he's been doing all camp).

Overall I liked what I saw from that game. Hopefully with Duke Williams the coaching staff can work with him to better utilize him, then again he might just not be a fit for the defense. If the team had it's offensive weapons in the game the offenses performance would be concerning.

Gruden was trying to talk up the Bills about how Preston came in and filled in nicely for Kiko, but Gruden failed miserably by botching his last name and by saying the entire starting O-line is the same as last year. Don't sleep on Andre Davis. To discount him for a slow 40 would be a mistake IMO. I want both him and Thompson to stick, with one (Davis) on the PS. I want Hogan gone. Nothing against him, he's a gamer, but these young ones are just too talented IMO with tons of upside. If he's cut, he will be unemployed for about five minutes, if that. I expect some interesting play design from Roman to get the best out of Goodwin. But he's got to stay healthy and continue to see the field.
