JoeF Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Story is posted on the home page. Actual savings is $3.4 million for '05. This probably allows us to either sign one more player or extend a Clements or McGee over the $2 Million in savings reported earlier. In addition this puts us squarely in the game to resign Jennings and/or Williams and address some other needs (LG/K/TE/coverage LB-for third down D--which I think needs to be addressed) Eric says he tells friends "Buffalo is the most beautiful city in the summer time." He gets the same amount of money as under the old contract--but the Bills get an extra year and significantly reduced cap hit....good for everyone.
Ray Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Great, great news on Moulds. He loves Buffalo and I'm so glad he is staying.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Hopefully he'll join JP in Buffalo, and the same for Evans and Reed (whose time is running out). I didn't realize that his contract has only been surpassed by Harrison's since he signed it.
clumping platelets Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 The actually savings were a little more than $3.6 million old deal: 2005: $5.5 million salary, $2 million amortization, $1 million reporting/roster, $100,000 workout bonus, $175,000 LTBE Pro Bowl bonus Cap hit: $8.775 million new deal: 2005: $1.5 million salary, $2 million old amort. , $1,666,666 new amort Cap hit: $5,166,666 $8,775,000 - $5,166,666 = $3,609,334 Until salaries for 2006 & 2007 are known, don't know what the cap savings in 2006 will be, but his cap number WAS $9.189 million and will likely be much less
gordong Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 So with the release of drew and Pierson Prioleau we would be close to 17mil under the cap??? That would give us plenty of money to fix what needs fixing.
nodnarb Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 The Bills, and all us fans, should feel lucky that a guy like moulds actually digs Buffalo. He could go anywhere he wanted and he'd be in demand. He holds all the power in this relationship, and he chose Buffalo. Again, we're lucky.

Is this a paycut of sorts, clumpy? Just curious.

That would give us plenty of money to fix what needs fixing. 236676 I think the Bills were only $4 million or so under after renogiating, add another $5 million because of the increase by the NFL and if the $3.6 figuere is correct then I would say we're only $12.6 under.
clumping platelets Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 I wondered when clump would make his grand appearance ! Is this a paycut of sorts, clumpy? Just curious. 236689 If you look at the old numbers, Moulds was scheduled to make $6.6 million in actual money in his pocket. The $2 million amortization is from his original $12 million signing bonus he got in 2001. The Pro Bowl counts on the cap but he would need to make next yrs PB to get that $175,000. The new deal maintained "present value" because, if the Buffalo News numbers are correct , then he will get $6.5 million in actual money in 2005. Without salary info for 2006 & 2007, difficult to say whether he took a paycut overall.
clumping platelets Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Clumpy--Jim Overdorf needs to put you on the payroll....thanks.... 236719 I would love to join the Bills FO working on the cap But rest assured, I know maybe 50% of what the experts know. I would have a HUGE amount of material to learn, but I AM VERY WILLING TO BURN THE MIDNIGHT OIL if given the chance
clumping platelets Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 I submitted changes to my cap page (see my sig), but the techno-nerds are still updated the page. I wish I knew HTML/Front Page/or whatever software I would need to know to make my own changes I have the Bills $10.73 million under

He could go anywhere he wanted and he'd be in demand. He holds all the power in this relationship, and he chose Buffalo. Again, we're lucky. before moulds signed his 6 year deal, I remember he said he talked to some other player who left his original team and he told him if he liked Buffalo to stay there cause going to a new team can suck. Anyone remember who it was?

The Jokeman Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 I think it was Jerry Rice 236769 For some reason I think it was Keyshawn Johnson.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 For some reason I think it was Keyshawn Johnson. Yep, that's who it was.
Amstel Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 I'm glad E Moulds is staying. I'm glad he restructured willingly and I'm glad that it looks like JP is going to be the starting QB next year.
