The Big Cat Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 He's got some fans: @KevinMassare Bryant would be a good upgrade to the depth. He would be in on run downs for sure. Could play in multiple fronts. http://twitter.com/KevinMassare/status/633339799554916353 To me, Bryant would step in and start day 1 when Dareus is out. http://twitter.com/KevinMassare/status/633339270024007681 Red Bryant is 1 year removed from 4 year-19 mil deal. Would be a good pickup right now. http://twitter.com/KevinMassare/status/633338982986842112 @ChrisTrapasso Red Bryant is an enormous human being. 6'4" and 325. Was fantastic run-stuffer for Jags in 2014. http://twitter.com/ChrisTrapasso/status/633338937306542081 And then back to @KevinMassare for why he was released: Generally is a very expensive veteran piece. The play is there. He was only released by Seahawks/Jaguars. http://twitter.com/KevinMassare/status/633340501408788481
YoloinOhio Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Why is Bryant available? He was a big part of the SB champion DL in 2013 and signed a pretty decent FA deal with the Jags in 2014. He's a big time run stuffer. Why did he get cut from a bad team? Is he healthy? Would be a very nice replacement for Wynn IMO.
Blokestradamus Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Certainly not a bad calibre of player to be picking up at this point in the season. Nothing more than a backup but he's got the size to play NT, 1T or 5T on run downs.
YoloinOhio Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Maybe he's not the same player he was then, but seems like his play could be elevated by the talent around him and the vet experience would be nice as a depth/rotational guy.
Jamie Nails Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 He was on Sirius about a month ago and basically said he's ready to go and has received a lot of calls. Said he was just waiting for the right fit. Seems like he just didn't want to go through camp.

JM57 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 This would go a long way in reducing the hurt of Wynn missing the season.

Cause he got in a fight with an O- line man, and we all know that O-line coach down there don't stand for that...obviously.
boyst Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Reminds me of what happened to Alan Branch. Maybe he just got lazy. Maybe he needed the wakeup call. Look at Branch now, he is exactly what was expected.
Utah John Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 A man this size sounds like a DT. Wynn is a DE. We are fortunate to have a lot of good DTs but are pretty thin on DEs. Bryant might be a good addition for the team, but it's not clear he addresses the problem Wynn's injury created.

It would be havoc on offenses with a space hogging NT and Kyle in middle.

I'm surprised that anybody with enough knowledge to haunt this board is still trying to compartmentalize Rex's DLineman in a traditional sense.

26CornerBlitz Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 (edited) I hope this open spot is ticketed for Red Bryant. @mikerodak Bills have placed Jarius Wynn and Ty Powell on IR. Also waived DE Erik Williams. One spot open on 90. Edited August 18, 2015 by 26CornerBlitz

We need run stop when Marcel is not in the game
GG Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 And this is exactly why people should be grateful that El Pegual is the owner. Two years ago Bills' braintrust would have been scouring footage of the backup DT from Furman.
JM57 Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Remember what happened in the games were Marcel went out? We need run stop when Marcel is not in the game I agree completely. If they sign Bryant, he is probably the starter next to Kyle Williams in week 1. After that, he's the top interior backup and a solid rotational player in short yardage or big packages with 4 or 5 DL. Carrington played DE in Pettine's D and could slide out to be Mario's primary backup, filling Wynn's old role. That would be one hell of a deep DL with a LOT of versatility. You could have a big package of Dareus-Bryant-K. Williams-M. Williams with the ability to mix Carrington and Charles in as needed.
