Generals' general manager John Ferrari, who started running the business for his father-in-law, Red Klotz, in 1987, confirmed Thursday that the Harlem Globetrotters had dropped the Generals, their longtime foe, as an opponent.

weird story, some of those players in the story were making it sound like it wasn't all an act...

Met a guy who played for the Generals once. Basically said that for the first quarter, it was somewhat real basketball. They'd play offense their best, and defense, just not a full force. Once the Globetrotters got a 10-15 point lead, they were told to basically stand there with their hands in the air, but to never tank a shot.

I remember way back in the day Syracuse played the Globetrotters in an exhibition game. They didn't do any of the trickery or showmanship stuff, and played the game hard. They beat Syracuse, and I think they also beat Michigan State that season.

Wait, the Washington Generals were actually a separately managed team/business? How on earth did it take until just now for the Globetrotters to realize they could just produce a loser team on their own?
