K-9 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 @ESPNStatsInfo: Steve Smith currently ranks 14th all-time in receiving yards. He'll need 638 yards in his final season to move into the top 10 all-time. I think he's a lock as a top 10 all-time when he retires. It's just difficult for receivers to get in on the first ballot and I doubt he will, too. GO BILLS!!!
Big Turk Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Eight 1,000+ yard seasons, posting over 900 catches and over 13,000 yards, being uncoverable for several seasons including being doubled and sometimes triple teamed and still getting wide open...I'd say absolutely. He is still going strong, posted almost 80 catches and 1100 yards last year...
mjm3773 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Absofreakinglutely he does. IMO, he is one of the top 10 WRs ever. He put up numbers despite playing on run-first offenses his entire career. And until the last few years with Cam/Flacco, the best QB he had was Jake Delhomme. The following blog post sums up the argument pretty well: http://www.footballperspective.com/the-steve-smith-post/ Plus he was one of the best post-season WRs as well: http://www.footballperspective.com/tag/steve-smith/
The Jokeman Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 He announced today that he will retire at the end of the season, his 15th. Since his rookie season in 2001, he has the 3rd-most receiving yards in the league (13,262). He has had 8 seasons of over 1000 yds. Signed through 2016... Leaving 3 mill on the table to walk away early. No. Then again I didn't feel Andre Reed or Tim Brown were either.
