Bummer. I have a lot of fond memories watching games he was calling.

I didn't realize he was so old. I guess time keeps on slipping (x3) into the future. . . .

The first thing I think of when I hear Frank Gifford is the famous hit he took from Chuck Bednarik back in 1960. Weird they both passed away less than five months apart.

Frank wasn't the best announcer by any stretch but I loved him on the MNF broadcasts anyway. He was the "calming influence" in the booth. Another childhood memory in the books. :( RIP, Mr. Gifford.

RIP. Met him once at a Special Olympics World Games Opening Ceremonies. Got to talk with him for about 5 minutes. He just loved life and was loved by the Kennedy/Shriver family. The only person on earth who could make Howard Cossell shut his yapper....

My thoughts exactly. I remember he started on TV doing the thirty minute NFL today, reviewing the previous weeks highlights prior to the start of the NFL game on WBEN. Back in those days we were football starved and I love watching his show.

My only recollection of him on the field was as a WR. Retired soon after, then every week doing hi-lites and shaving commercials. He was an original 'golden boy'. RIP, Giffer.
