But she is from Australia... She's gonna be pretty close to Canada. Isn't Australia kinda like Canada... Or vice-a-versa. Get a boat and sail to Toronto.

Yes..a part of the British Commonwealth... a boat is in the plans but for Lake Ontario but not a sail one at this point.

Faster to out run the US/CCG? I meant "sail" in either capacity, motor or sail.

American cigarettes do well in Canada... Not that I am implying anybody do something illegal of course! ;-) ;-) JUST KIDDING.

I used to sound (depth readings, hydographic survey) places like Wilson Harbor, Irondequoit, etc... along Lake Ontario... We all knew what some of those boats were doing in harbor, it was pretty obvious... LoL... Funny thing, it was most of the time the sailboats. I guess those birds would be hard to suspect.

All kidding aside, make sure to be up on the regs. Call the US/C CG when crossing for customs.

Just took a break in my house "packing" to log in again. Wow, thanks for all the entertaining comments. Yes, the Dallas area is okay (if you like Cowboys fans and Jerry Jones), but I've always missed the north.

Actually, since leaving Australia, I have lived in So. California, Grand Island (Buffalo), Milwaukee, Pittsburgh and Dallas. The only two places I have ever been homesick for were Sydney and Buffalo.

So glad to be coming "home" where the summers are manageable, I don't have to run a sprinkler system, my house isn't the same floor plan as my neighbor, the lakes are "natural" lakes, I can go camping again, no more y'all and "fixin to" and other assorted really bad grammar, and I can drive rather than fly to Bills games.

I will be out of here on August 22.

Sorry I missed this until just now. Congrats AussieW! Hope you like your new home and surroundings.

I had the pleasure of visiting Sydney last year and I agree, it's a great city and I'm not surprised you'd be homesick for it.

Cheers!

Hi all. Checking in again. Got unloaded yesterday and am in the house. My dreams of living in an old house with lots of character have been a little marred by the fact that:

1. Cant get the Queen or Double box springs up the stairs. They have to be cut. Got to find someone who know how to do it.

2. Cant get my headboard up the stairs. Have to hire some laborers with tall extension ladders to take it in through the 2nd story window.

3. The opening from the finished basement to the laundry area is only 24 inches wide. Can't figure out how the sellers removed their washer and dryer and cant get mine in. Gotta find someone who knows how to cut a larger doorway and then repair it.

4. Constantly going up and down 2 flights of stairs is killing me. But the "pro" is the good excercise.

5. Adjusting to no fences. One of my dogs ran out and visited the neighborhood yesterday. He now knows more of the neighbors than I do. A fence is the 1st thing on the priority list.

They used to have a website to "hire a husband" for a day or two. Can't find it any more. So this morning I sit here, surrounded by boxes (and box springs) and wonder how I will overcome these latest challenges. Vodka maybe?

But at least the Bills looked good and I got to see Aaron Williams in a commercial....#oldladycrush.

So glad Cowgirls Fan was here long enough to at least help me get most of my kitchen stuff unpacked. I got to make coffee this AM.

Congratulations Diane. Coincidentally, the clan and I just ditched Texas for Pittsburgh a month ago (haven't changed my name yet). We've been amazed by how much friendlier PA folks are, and loving the reasonable temperatures up here. Best of all I finally get to use my season tix!! Hope to see many of you at Hammers for the opener tailgate.
