Coach Tuesday Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Honestly, losing even ONE GAME because of an idiot kicker would be a calamity we cannot afford. This needs to get fixed somehow, ASAP.
Doc Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Too bad Carp never played for the Jets. He could've taken the summer off, no worries... Carp tried out for the Jets and was cut after 4 days.
Lurker Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 For all the Nervous Nellie's out there, who from this list would you trust more than Carp? http://pit.247sports.com/Bolt/Which-free-agent-kicker-should-the-Steelers-sign-38663222
thebug Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) I let DC ride it out for a bit. I bet he gets it going. He's no rookie. Edited September 4, 2015 by thebug
Formerly Allan in MD Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Do we know why he was on PUP at the start of camp?
DanInUticaTampa Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 For all the Nervous Nellie's out there, who from this list would you trust more than Carp? http://pit.247sports.com/Bolt/Which-free-agent-kicker-should-the-Steelers-sign-38663222 Getting one via trade is a possibilty too.and after the next cuts, there might be more kickers available. Your list isn't our only options.
The Dean Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Do we know why he was on PUP at the start of camp? I think he pulled his groin. Then he injured his leg.
thebug Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Do we know why he was on PUP at the start of camp? He had a hammy prob I think.
Lurker Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Getting one via trade is a possibilty too.and after the next cuts, there might be more kickers available. Your list isn't our only options. True. But who's carrying two NFL-quality kickers?
The Dean Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Getting one via trade is a possibilty too.and after the next cuts, there might be more kickers available. Your list isn't our only options. Yes, there will be cuts. Guys that weren't good enough to make the other teams' rosters. Probably not a lot of quality there, either. But you never know.
jr1 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Carpenter seemed really upset on John Murphy's show after the PAT rule change. Does he have the yips?
NickelCity Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Ugh. This is a problem I hope goes away. And fast.
boyst Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 There isn't much out there to replace him with, and I would like to think this is a mental thing and he'll get over it. He's been money before. The truth is, with a power running game and what could be a suspect pass offense you need a kicker who is good from 30+ to the mid 40's. Carpenter was that the last two years. I would be very interested to hear what is going on with him.
HalftimeAdjustment Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Given Ryan's quotes tonight where they are going to look at any guy who has ever kicked a football in his life, that is not a good sign.
KOKBILLS Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 For all the Nervous Nellie's out there, who from this list would you trust more than Carp? http://pit.247sports.com/Bolt/Which-free-agent-kicker-should-the-Steelers-sign-38663222 You never know with kickers though... Sometimes you get lucky like the Bills did with Carp...But the performance so far this year, and the injury factor is a bit worrisome...And like I wrote earlier it's not like Carp has been money his whole career... So...Could this be his time to slide back? I'm not saying I think he will...I'm just saying...He's a kicker...Who knows?
Big C Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Carpenter has been great for us. Doubt we find a better guy unless he also does kickoffs.
Freddie's Dead Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) What better kicker? Here's the FAs to choose from--all uninspiring options: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/kicker/ Maybe Rex should just go home and kick the dog... Succop and Graham look like the best of that awful list. Yikes, just saw Rex's post-game presser. Carp's a goner if they can find somebody they like. Edited September 4, 2015 by Freddie's Dead
CSBill Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) The idea of getting rid of Dan Carpenter is ridiculous, after Fred Jackson, he is the Bill's most beloved and reliable player. No way they release him . . . Seriously, there must be a former Jet kicker out there that Rex has to have on the team. Edited September 4, 2015 by CSBill
stevestojan Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Wait, isn't Carpenter one of the most clutch players we have? I didn't want or listen to any of last night's game. Did he miss 10 kicks or something?
