Fred is on wgr right now and he said he's very close to returning. Feels great, doing work and just waiting to be cleared.

Good thing. Rodak reports McCoy being led to the locker room with "a heavy limp. Left leg injury."

This old man has one foot in the nursing home already. Rex should take him out back before training camp ends so we can move on with the young guns. No sense cutting a young guy like Brown or Dixon to keep around Freddy the glorified mascot for an obligatory 3-touch-per game season backing up McCoy.

Don't hate Fred because he's better than you at life.

He won't even make the final roster.

Yeah, 66 receptions last year, 3.5 yds per carry, and clutch in tough situations. That plus people under rate leadership. If you ever played anything higher than 9th grade football you would understand. I would take fred over Bryce Brown anyday.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. He'll prove to be the most effective RB on the team by the end of the year. Again. As he does every year.

Come on, calling BS on posts like this with zero to back up ridiculous statements.

Yes, this may be the case if McCoy, Brown, Karlos Williams all go on IR, as they are all much better running backs at this stage.

He has been a very good Bill, but almost zero chance that he is the most effective running back on this team. If one of those actual top three backs on this team is cut for the sake of Jackson's honorary position that would be a very bad sign. In run after run this summer all three have run like Jackson has not for several years.

Thinking Brown is a better football player then Freddy gives your statement zero credibility. Freddy is still by far the better football player. People act like we are playing teams every week to get the best combine numbers.

This. And BTW, Fred led the team in first downs last year, and had over 1000 all-purpose yards. Yeah, completely washed up, ready for the retirement home. Enough with the "This is Fred's last year" already.

I'm with you, QB.

he was, what, about 40th in yards from scrimmage? if this is not his last year, im not sure what you expect out of his career from here. hes swimming against the current and the current is getting stronger, not him. we will see how long he can keep it up.

Fred is definitely not a Superstar in the NFL, but he is easily the #2 on this team.

Ive said it before, and ill say it again. 2 years ago the Bills won the game against Carolina because of Fred Jackson. He purposely dropped a short pass cuz he understood the game situation. If he catches the ball and goes for 2 yards, the Bills lose 20 seconds or must call a timeout. Not everyone gets it. He is not the flashiest, not the fastest, not the youngest, but he is there and knows his role.

He knows where the hole is, knows where the first down marker is, knows how to read defenses, knows how to block and is a natural leader. Why is Spiller not with the Bills? Cuz he didn't know any of this.

Godspeed Fredex!

40th in a 32-team league for the oldest RB in the NFL? Not bad. I've said it on more than one occasion. Fred will become a 3rd down specialist like Keith Byars or Kevin Faulk. They played an extra 5 years just on that, and Fred is at least as good as they were.

I'd rather the Bills win 10 games with Freddy than 10 games without him, so here's hoping to a speedy recovery and some receptions taken to the house this preseason to shore up that roster spot before the fourth game so he can be rested for week 1 vs. Indy. I want to see his excitement after the game--that place is going to be packed, rocking, and make life absolutely miserable for Luck and the Colts. I think the Bills blow them out big time and start a new era atop the AFC East, and it wouldn't be right to see it without Freddy a part of the action.

God Bless, Freddy--go get em kid!
