Ozymandius Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 You mean he's aligned with Know Nothings, not conservatives. It would be easy to ridicule his platform if he had one, or at least was consistent on his tweetstorms that double as a platform. You guys should just admit that he's popular because people like the theatrics. Trump's platform is essentially paleoconservatism, which is the enemy of neoconservatism. Paleoconservatives such as Pat Buchanan and Phyllis Schlafly have already endorsed him. Trump's an America Firster, not an Israel Firster.
GG Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 This should be good. Too bad I don't have Hulu. Our favorite insult-spewing television celebrity — no, not you, Donald Trump — hits the campaign trail with a one-hour election special appearing next month exclusively on Hulu.
IDBillzFan Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 (edited) Trump's an America Firster, not an Israel Firster. There's a better chance that Trump's an American Fister. I know you guys are angry about the GOP, and I completely get it, but do you genuinely want to elect a guy president who demeans his critics by suggesting the only reason they are criticizing him is for publicity because he's the best show in town? Trump doesn't give a fistphuck about this country or making it great. He cares about the spotlight. That's it. It's like watching Schwarzenegger run as a Republican again to unseat the liberal governor of California. He ain't no Republican and he ain't no governor. He's a shiny object banging the nanny. 4merper4mer Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Do you have a link to support this? I don't think I've ever heard Bernie describe himself as a communist. If he did, please enlighten me. Dude plays Simon and Garfunkel songs in his ads. He's a commie.

B-Man Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Dude plays Simon and Garfunkel songs in his ads. He's a commie. “I SAID BE CAREFUL, THAT OLD MAN IS REALLY A COMMIE:” “That song is an awful choice for a political campaign. It’s not about hope and promise. It’s about looking for America and not finding it. The lovers hop on the bus hopefully enough, but by the end they’re out of cigarettes and out of things to talk about, and she’s flipping through a magazine rather than looking out the window at the country rolling by. . . . A sad, superannuated song for a sad, superannuated candidate.”

Yes. Plus, he's right about National Review. In any case, I don't think you know enough about my politics to just assume that any other Republican would do for me. It's not like I like Rubio's policies but I want to punish the GOP by voting for Trump or something. I've said this before. Cruz could be the compromise candidate. My sense of it is that most Trump supporters would vote for Cruz. Do everything in your power to support Cruz if you can't stand Trump but you want to keep the coalition together to defeat the Dems.
Nanker Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 I hereby dub Trump "The Aluminum Dildo." That comes in a bright orange furry bag. Yes. Plus, he's right about National Review. Cruz sticks out as the guy that put his finger in the eye of the Republican establishment and it really, really pissed them off. You see how they're now attacking him as if by doing so they can save their boy Bush. Bob Dole should stfu. As if HE knows anything about how to beat a Clinton. Of course when he ran, he was about as popular as Hill is now.
Taro T Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I hereby dub Trump "The Aluminum Dildo." So rather than the Steely Dan he'd be the Tin Don? (Yes, tin & aluminum aren't the same, but there are still people that call Reynolds Wrap - tin foil & food cans - tin cans.)

IDBillzFan Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Do everything in your power to support Cruz if you can't stand Trump but you want to keep the coalition together to defeat the Dems. Electing Trump is not defeating the Democrats. You don't defeat them by electing someone who has palled around with them for the past 20 years and who can be bought at every turn. He's conning you and everyone else who only needs a soundbite to get by. He's the right's version of Crazy Bernie, with millions of people happy to turn the country over to a socialist because he keeps giving them soundbites that sound good.

A few weeks ago, that was an impossibility to you because the media would call him names or something. I'm wearing you down, LABillz. In a few months, you're going to be volunteering for Trump's Deportation Froce

A few weeks ago, that was an impossibility to you because the media would call him names or something. I'm wearing you down, LABillz. In a few months, you're going to be volunteering for Trump's Deportation Froce I'll grant you that I'm less convinced he'll be knocked out soon, but that has more to do with me changing my mind on just how stupid the electorate is than with anyone wearing me down. It also started changing once I started to see just how unbelievably bad Hillary is as a candidate. That said, it doesn't change my point above: you can vote for Trump, but please don't try to convince us you're voting for a conservative, because while he's a lot of things, a conservative ain't one of them. Sidenote: there are few things you can do in California that are a greater waste of time than volunteering for a Republican presidential candidate.

A few weeks ago, that was an impossibility to you because the media would call him names or something. I'm wearing you down, LABillz. In a few months, you're going to be volunteering for Trump's Deportation Froce Trump still has very high negatives among voters in all parties and I fear he will not debate well against Hillary as he lacks substance in most of his answers. Her substance is BS but she has a tremendous ability to look straight into the camera and lie and dodge and have many people buy it. Cruz, Rubio, Christie and Fiorina would tear her apart on that stage IMO. Trump if he is to win support in a debate will have to resort to tactics such as turning to her on camera and saying something like: I can't imagine why one person, NOT ONE!, would vote for you given your lack of accomplishments and support for a horrible President like Obama. He's a disaster and so are you and everybody knows it!

I recall at one one point, when asked about how he would handle ISIS, his response was something like "Let me tell you, when I get done with ISIS, they'll be destroyed, okay? I just can't tell you how I'm going to do it because I don't want them to know, although I'll probably have to tell somebody something at some point, but not right now, but maybe later."

That sounds suspiciously like a gatorman debate tactic.

That's a straw man since I've already said I'm not conservative and neither is Trump, at least according to how most people understand "conservative" to mean. There IS an argument that he's paleoconservative, which is why Phyllis Schlafly and Pat Buchanan endorse him. But, eh, nobody supporting him really cares. For some reason, cuckservatives wear their label proudly even though they haven't conserved a damn thing over the past 20 years, fiscally or socially.
