Ozymandius
This debate format is much better than how Fox handled it. Make the candidates the stars, not the moderators. Have the candidates confront each other's policy positions.

truth on hold
For those who missed it, I'll summarize the key reason each candidate wants your vote: Huckabee = I'm a preacher Cruz = I'm an apocolyptical maniac Rubio = I'm Cuban and so were my grandparents Christie = My state was close to 9/11 Bush = I'll make excuses for brother George no matter what it costs me Fioriana = I'm angry and frown a lot Carson = I have nothing to add but at least I don't shout Trump = I'm polling better than you so shut up Paul = I'm a bookworm John Kasich = Christians and Jews need only apply Scott Walker = In my limited time I will discuss details on issues no one cares about Edited September 17, 2015 by JTSP
....lybob
Well a better overall performance than the first debate, should the credit go to the candidates or the moderators? if I was scoring as a republican I'd say a fair uptick for Rubio, Cruz, Walker, Christie,- no movement Bush, Carson, Huckabee, slight downward arrow for trump - Paul looked like he was speaking to the wrong audience he is an outlier in that crowd -Carly? interesting military figures I'd like to see the cost analysis So I guess our military has become pathetically weak despite spending more on our military than the next 10-16 countries combined, maybe we need an investigation as to why we aren't getting a better bang for the buck. ExiledInIllinois
Wow... Just my opinion... Trump does NOT look presidential by a mile... Knock Obama, Bush II, et al, but man, the faces he makes, body language... WTF! He's putting on a good run for beating out Dean's Scream... Dude looks like one of Ryan's (poster... see OFW thread) pit bulls... Hideous! There's not enough lipstick in the world to cover up that pig! Funny thing... I listen to his message and feel the other way... He is a man of action, I can respect that... BUT can voters look past all the negatives. NOW... If I did switch and vote Repub... I can see myself pulling the lever for Carly or Ben. Carly seems on the ball! Trump does seem to be making them all TRYING to bring their A-Game. Deranged Rhino
Surprised to see less commentary here. I'm about to watch now... because I'm a masochist. 38 some odd minutes in and my only real comments are that Cruz is an embarrassment, Rubio and Fiorina are the only ones giving real answers (and Paul but he's not saying much). Nanker
Time for the field to get whittled down. Pataki, Graham (sp), Santorum need to stand down. Paul has no chance. Walker looked lost.
FireChan
Can anyone elaborate why Carson and Paul didn't shoot down the "vaccines cause autism" cause more strongly? Are anti-vaxxers a sought after voting group?

He's going to end the trade deficit with a snap of his fingers, build the great wall of Mexico and have Mexico pay for it and he's going to have lots and lots of "victories," as president, whatever that means. He is all ignorance, but has it down to an art
4merper4mer
I'm about to watch now... because I'm a masochist. 38 some odd minutes in and my only real comments are that Cruz is an embarrassment, Rubio and Fiorina are the only ones giving real answers (and Paul but he's not saying much). I'm not into this stuff but am interested in hearing you elaborate about Cruz. The Googlebot did a supposedly scientific analysis and it was wildly pro-Cruz. He had Rubio second then Fiorina......after that they were bunched up with Trump in the group.........then Huckabee,,,,,,,then Kasich who he thinks has early onset dementia......then Jeb was way in last. Cruz' numbers were so high from the bot that it has me worried that he was being scientific about everyone except Cruz. I'm not saying Cruz did well or poorly, I didn't even watch. There is just something else going on with Googlebot right now that I dare not mention and the Cruz thing could be another point of evidence. Any light you can shed on this might help. Thanks and keep this on the down low.
keepthefaith
Trump's facial expressions often reminded me of a Dr. Seus character. Yeah, Carly frowns but she's very serious and determined and was among the best of the night for me. Christie may be making a comeback. IDBillzFan
Trumpsters will be Trumpsters, but I don't know how you don't see that debate as a bad night for Trump. When it came down to substance, Trump could only tell everyone that whatever is going on in the world, with him it is going to be better and greater and with more goodness than anyone has ever seen anywhere in this world. Rubio was solid, but Carly absolutely crushed everyone. I love this woman and would pay good money to see her debate Hillary. Please add Hill'ry and Bernie to your list of succinct descriptors. They will also be classified as angry and white. JTSP will have nothing good to say about anyone whose first name isn't Adolf.
