Metal Man Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 (edited) And of course there's this blast from the past: http://edition.cnn.com/2003/TECH/ptech/11/26/master.term.reut/ Hopefully they can now move on to removing the labeling of 'male' and 'female' ends of electrical cords. It is only a matter of time before it offends a male who identifies more with the receiving end of an extension cord. Not sure how the people who name these things can sleep at night. In all seriousness though language is about inflection and intent. For the most part it is usually pretty clear to figure out whether a person is being derogatory or innocent in a statement. If someone is stupid enough to confuse the latter with the former then that is squarely on them. Edited July 29, 2015 by Metal Man

In 2000, the council supported federal legislation seeking reparations for descendants of slaves.
DC Tom Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Sadly, I remember we had a thread on that topic back then. And I've kept my promise to this day: I call them plantation owner and cotton picker drives.
unbillievable Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I have one IDE hard drive remaining in my computer. It's a master that has lost it's slave. It's where I hide my porn.

Gary M Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 http://www.pressherald.com/2015/07/29/unh-president-offended-by-bias-free-language-guide/ FTA "“American” is problematic because it fails to recognize South America." So what happens all the hyphenated "Americans" ?
