NoSaint
IF Fred is cut, I can see him being offered a contract by the Pats***I don't mean to be a jerk - I like Fred- But would you be scared of Fred? He'd be a decent role player but I wouldn't particularly worry about where he ended up hurting us (outside a fan favorite being impossible to cheer for)
YattaOkasan
I meant that because we have a FB, like Felton, he would get the surprise carry in a two back offense that Boobie might get, lessening the need even more. And would get the short yardage action that Boobie might get if we didn't have a FB on the team. Gotcha. Agreed we have 3 short yardage specialists between Felton, Karlos, and Boobie, with the latter two trying to make the 53. Â I think Boobie's value, over Karlos (I think as I think you do too that both will be ST beasts), would be as a game day back up FB. As I said before I see him being able to fill two roles, and I think that would be valuable to Roman who likes to attack by disguise. Â Good points and god I can't wait til TC. dubs
McCoy Williams Brown Jackson Dixon  I think it probably should be Freddie, even though I love him. But most likely it will be either Boobie or Bryce.
Dragonborn10
I think Fred shows his age in camp and is offered a chance to retire. If he doesn't then he will be cut early so he can get a chance with some other team. I agree he may be the best pass protector but who says the other guys can't do that as well. It was Spiller that is the worst blitz pick-up back in the league. Who says Dixon, Brown, or McCoy aren't capable. Plus with multiple TE sets there will be less pass blocking assignments. But it's not a point of being "scared" to face Fred. It's the super-secret inside scoop about the RexRoman schemes that BillyCheat*** would siphon out of Fred's head. He's done it before. He picked up Antowain Smith when he was 29 and he lasted there till he was 31. That hurt.
Matt in KC
Don't forget how the Pats* "stole" Larry Centers from us! Â This is how good a job Fred has done convincing me of his Bills character: I am convinced he would take a full time (non-playing) job with the Bills rather than take a job with the Pats that pays twice as much. Rocky Landing
I was watching reruns of Hard Knocks from 2010 with the Jets last week, and I'm starting to suspect that we may end up with two full backs on the roster-- Felton, and Connor. And, I wouldn't be disappointed. It's hard to imagine not having Felton on the roster, and (in 2010, at least) Rex had an absolute hard-on for Connor. He was Rex's pick in the '10 draft, and rex gloated and bragged about him. And, I will say, from the perspective of that show, Connor was one hard hitting rookie. Â If that happens, I could certainly see us going with three RBs, and putting K. Williams on the PS. I think he would be a perfect candidate for the PS, as the league seems to be rife with talented backs these days-- especially rookies-- and I suspect he would be safe there. That would still put the competition between Dixon, and Brown, TBD in TC. Edited July 22, 2015 by Rocky Landing

They are intent on using a FB and you are right Rex loves him and knows what he can do. I don't think he makes the 53 unless Felton gets hurt in camp. If Felton gets hurt during the year they can resign him. Jmo but I don't think they need or want to keep 2 FBs on the 53.

Keeping two FBs on the 53 would probably fall under the heading of "bold prediction" on my part. But, it wouldn't be that bold. Several of Ryan's offenses have had two FBs. I kind of hope it happens. It would be cool to see how Ryan/Roman would use two FBs (both on the field at the same time?), and if Shady gets as many carries as predicted, we're not going to see much of the #3 RB, much less a #4. And, now that I have looked into Connor a bit, he seems like an intriguing player-- very good at his position, consummate professional, and hits HARD. If our O-line continues to be a weakness (not unlikely, unfortunately), FB could be an even more important position for this offense, considering the predictions of "ground and pound." If so I would see it as more likely though I'm not sure he had as many WRs, RBs and TEs at his disposal that he may want to keep instead. Does Conner play any STs? Over 29 years of fanhood
Even 4 HB spots might be a stretch with Romans interest in fullback h back type guys. If Karlos looks good maybe Dixson and Brown move on, they keep 3 HBs and two FBs or an extra tight end.
