....lybob
Bernie is not Hitler but he might be a NAZI http://www.nationalreview.com/article/421369/bernie-sanders-national-socialism In the Bernieverse, there’s a whole lot of nationalism mixed up in the socialism. He is, in fact, leading a national-socialist movement, which is a queasy and uncomfortable thing to write about a man who is the son of Jewish immigrants from Poland and whose family was murdered in the Holocaust. But there is no other way to characterize his views and his politics.

KD in CA
That's pretty much all of liberalism in a nutshell. Make the situation of ~80% worse to marginally improve that of the other ~20%. And ignore the fact there will still be a top 1%, except now it will be entirely comprised of the government officials who are responsible for ensuring the 'playing field' is 'level'. DC Tom
Bernie is not Hitler but he might be a NAZI http://www.nationalreview.com/article/421369/bernie-sanders-national-socialism That's a wonderfully written piece, in terms of entertainment. A little light on facts and accuracy, and it's hard to take seriously someone who doesn't know how to spell "Lionel." But very amusing. Yes, Bernie's a nationalist. And he's a socialist. But being a nationalist and a socialist does not a "national socialist" make.
Alaska Darin
If the unthinkable happens and Sanders wins, I will stockpile canned goods, MRE's, ammunition, and convert my savings into gold coin. He'll make the Greek crisis look like a weekend block party. How exactly would he do that?
Magox
How exactly would he do that? Of course that wouldn't happen, having said that he does support a 90% top tax rate on the wealthy, single payer healthcare and free education for everyone. Growth would go way down, companies would move their businesses somewhere else, tax revenues would go down and the federal budget would explode. Of course, he wouldn't be able to get any of this passed through congress, but assuming they were all Californian's, his agenda would put the country in shambles in short order. Alaska Darin
link? canada for example? if i were conservative, i wouldn't worry too much about bernie. the media will almost certainly produce a howard dean type event if he gets to close to winning. he's much too likely to actually change the status quo. The media doesn't have to produce anything and Sanders has about a zero percent chance of accomplishing anything he's actually campaigning on. Much like Bill Clinton, who managed to not pass the BTU tax, Health Care Reform, Freedom to Choose, fixing the VA, cutting 100k bureaucrats or adding 100k cops, "Putting People First", etc, etc etc, Some of you people are just so !@#$ing stupid. Admittedly, he'll never get that through Congress...but if he had things his way, yeah, we'd be as bad off as Greece.
Alaska Darin
He wants to dissolve investment banks. Think about what that means for a few minutes. It doesn't matter what he "wants." DC Tom
It doesn't matter what he "wants." He has zero ability to actually get anything done. Look at his Congressional record... Between Treasury and the SEC, he could tear them apart with regulatory changes. While that may have been zero chance a decade ago, we now have a significant precedent for rule by executive diktat, so I'd say there's a small chance. The whole precedent thing is ridiculous and the reason that stands up as some kind of Holy Grail has always been mind boggling. The legal "system" in this country is totally (and probably irrevocably) broken because people keep standing behind "precedent" as the main reason to keep ****ty laws in place. And there's no way a dude looking like Statler is going to be elected President in the era of HD television.

You're defending his craziness. I know, I know...you're probably going to say that you didn't, (not really) but by undermining the policies pointed out by other posters by saying they're too liberal to pass, you've turned yourself into his campaign's spin doctor, directing people not to look behind the curtain until it's too late. Now let's get to the point. What exactly is your opinion on Sanders? Are you okay with the Idea of Sanders getting elected because you feel safe that his policies are too far left to pass? Isn't that how we ended up with Obama? Edited July 23, 2015 by unbillievable

My advice to you is to get to know this board a little better before you make any more outrageous statements, ie. calling me a liberal or Darin a Sanders supporter.
