Pine Barrens Mafia Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Dear Sanders supporters: you're retarded. Sanders supporters = Nader Supporters = Dean Supporters et al...
DC Tom Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 It's a good thing Sanders is new to Washington and doesn't have any record to speak of. It's also a good thing the Executive controls military spending and is the only one who can regularly offer reforms that would make DOD more efficient and less costly. Dear Sanders supporters: you're retarded. Of course, you (and I) think everyone is retarded. So it's kind-of a meaningless observation.
birdog1960 Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I'm an elitist a-hole that has family in several European countries. Well traveled and well read are two distinct advantages that liberals have over us Archie comic reading home bodies. No we're discussing important things. "I've found that most of the people here who tout European-style socialism haven't been there to experience it for themselves" yes, because there's not a hint of condescension or patronization in that statement....

No because being well traveled does not mean you understand European-style socialism. But most elite lefties use this as their reason for understanding it. A charming week in the cafes of Rome sipping cappuccinos and using their super fast Wi-Fi does not give you the real life experience of living there. No **** it's condescending and patronizing. Do you even know where you are? You're in the jungle baby, you're gonna diiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeee.................
TakeYouToTasker Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 last I knew I lived in the us of a. I thought we were comparing us to European internet speeds, non? More specifically, you live in rural east butt!@#$ Virginia. Your internet speeds may be slower there because of the ROI's of running the infrastructure for broadband through sparsely populated or isolated areas. While there are certainly lots of pluses to rural life, the choice to live in those settings does come with some downside. It's the same reason you generally have fewer choices for dining out and shopping than someone living in New York City. It's also important to note that many individuals living in the US have access to broadband, but choose not to utilize it. A 2013 study done by non-profit Connected Texas demonstrated that while 31% of Texans don't have high-speed internet, only 4% lacked access.

The counter-argument to that will be "No one has to make that choice in Europe, because the government provides it!" or some such bull ****.

Pine Barrens Mafia Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 A little something to tweak the Sanders/Occupy Democrats fans out there: https://tedtheeconomist.wordpress.com/2015/06/28/fact-checking-occupy-democrats-denmark/
Azalin Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 we facetime with family in several European countries including Portugal on a regular basis. their internet speed is much less of a problem than ours in rural virginia Have you ever considered the possibility that broadband service in rural Virginia may not quite measure up to that of the more urban areas? For example, here in Austin, many of us can get 1G bandwidth delivered to our homes for no more than $70 per month. No, it must be that poor old Az stays in crappy hotels. How can someone who's read the classics be such an ignorant chud?

But I do believe that the price tag on both should be lowered. Creating laws that state pharmaceutical companies are forbidden to advertise could keep the cost of medication down. Better budgeting and use of income from collegiate sports could help lower tuition for everybody. Either way, Americans need to think about how we could lower the cost of these two things before they can be offered at no cost to the recipients sounds pretty reasonable to me. I bet bernie wouldn't have a problem with those proposals. but would any or all of the repug candidates? How can someone who's read the classics be such an ignorant chud? there was no clarification of where in Europe was being compared to where in the us. coulda been rural Bavaria versus nyc. that's kind of my point. were we not to conclude that since the hotels that he stayed in have poor internet speeds, that all European hotels do?

Had you actually been trying to discuss it, you could have always asked instead of making such snobbish assumptions. For the sake of clarification, I'm referring to Dublin, Belfast, and Madrid, not exactly 3rd world cities.
IDBillzFan Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 the expected conclusion from your own unique brand of pretzel logic. If you were even the slightest bit honest with just yourself, you'd realize it was the expected conclusion of your own logic being applied, not mine. Bad internet in Spain = schitty hotel. Bad internet in rural VA = wealthy white capitalist pig America trying to keep the middle class down.

Who is Yuri? Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 A Bernie Sanders Event, like this ongoing one, draws the biggest crowds. It's where the Big Tent Party holds its carnival. It's where fringe activists come to be heard. And it's where trolls come to get attention. Republicans, Conservatives, Tea Partiers, you are welcome. It's not a thousand dollar per plate party, so BYOB or M.
