birdog1960 Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 (edited) Going into last week I didn't really know much about the various presidential candidates' positions or track records in the issues, but I read Pride & Prejudice over the weekend so I feel like I'm up to speed now. i like emma better. Very wide right Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 firstly, he's been taught and has taught others how to examine data and information by a systematic method, found over the centuries to be effective. he knows the classics which are called that for a reason. he's travelled extensively so that he's seen alternative cultural norms and customs. he knows history. he knows scientific method. he knows how to read and write well. he understands math well enough to understand basic physics. he's studied logic. as far as media, i suspect he uses a wide variety of sources but i've never asked. he seems to know and understand opposing viewpoints to his own. And wouldn't know how to add oil to an engine to save his life.

OCinBuffalo Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Jesus F'ing Christ....there goes my perfectly good Dr. Pepper. I am still giggling as I type this. I have no idea why I think this is so funny, but I can't stop laughing. It's almost unnerving. It's like the guy is warning the town that the Normans are about to attack, but instead it's an asshat! Also, I am a huge Bernie Sanders supporter in one aspect: Get the crazy out in the open. Let everybody hear it once and for all. Enough of Obama's veiled, not-socialism socialism. My dream is the far left coming out of the closet and feeling free to tell everyone exactly who they are and what they believe. Because then? We can shove them back into that damn closet, and permanently nail the door shut. Right now, I feel like the country is tanking, no different than the Sabres. We are doing it on purpose, so that Obama's failure is so complete, nobody will ever even suggest we nominate another far-left wingnut for 40 years.

And you do know that 45% increase in food stamp recipients is a really BAD economic indicator? And you know that a 108% increase in debt held by the public is a really BAD economic indicator? And you do know that you can get FactCheck to make a chart about anything, like this one, which indicates the number of newly insured based on "administration estimates" but number of uninsured by a specific survey? And another progressive economic indicator...weren't there only 30M uninsured when ACA was passed? How did that number got to 37M a full five years after the law was passed? But hey...it's fact check.org, so it must be true.

GG Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Because then? We can shove them back into that damn closet, and permanently nail the door shut. Soviet Union has been dead for 25 years and there's still no shortage of people proclaiming that it failed because it wasn't implemented properly.

Chef Jim Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 please tell me that if the numbers were as bad overall as they are actually good, you wouldn't blame obama for them. No because I'm not a fool that assumes one person has the power and ability to move all those numbers up or down. However you think he does so because of that would you mind answering my question on how his policies directly influenced those numbers. Be specific.

birdog1960 Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Like this one? there's a surprise. the downward trend began in 2008 when the big banks and financial industry caused the economy to collapse.
Dorkington Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 there's a surprise. the downward trend began in 2008 when the big banks and financial industry caused the economy to collapse. Actually the decline started earlier due to other factors, and combined with changing economic conditions. Like usual this isn't a "rah rah Obama" or a "hah hah Obama" moment.
