Opening up Iran to the world is a defeat for the hardliners there who want to close off their society and not let "dangerous foreign ideas" in. Nothing is guaranteed, but business interests and cultural exchanges intertwine usually and will hopefully bring Iran along in a peaceful manner. The Iranian people are not our enemies and they benefit greatly from this deal. People said it was appeasement to open up China. Was that a bad idea? Because everyone knows that there are moderates within the Iranian theocracy that we can easily appeal to. The single greatest conceptual failure of this administration is their persisting in the belief, despite all evidence to the contrary, that people can be controlled by a higher authority. I get what you're saying, but in light of a pending deal to negotiate the release of prisoners/hostages/etc, it seems way beyond prudent to me to act on any such intelligence and pull our folks out of harm's way, at least for a little while.
