Miyagi-Do Karate Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I'd take Fitz 10 times of 10 over Orton, and over any other QB we've had here since Kelly, save for Bledsoe. Agreed. Hindsight is 20/20, but we would have been better off keeping Fitz and not drafting EJ.
boyst Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Agreed. Hindsight is 20/20, but we would have been better off keeping Fitz and not drafting EJ. Been saying that all along since the day we got rid of him. Same with SJ13 getting rid of him; better off keeping him and not wasting time on Mike Williams. SJ13 in the slot last year with our QB's, even if Orton, would have been huge.

justnzane Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I was at Fisher today as well. Some of the things that caught my eye: Fred and Thigpen catching returns high with hands as opposed to the conventional underscoop. It was weird not seeing the kickers do a whole lot today (Carpenter hurt and most return practice via throws or jug machines) We may very well have the deepest RB core in the NFL as Brown, Karlos, and Boobie all look the part, which may not bode well for Freddy. Gragg still can't catch a cold let alone a football. Nobody can cover Sammy on the short routes Sammy will look for flag if bumped the slightest in the deep routesQB's footwork: Tyrod and Cassel looked good, Simms passable, EJ dances around more now than he did as a rookie. Against no coverage, Cassel looked rough throwing against the wind, EJ and Tyrod looked better on the short/intermediate routes. 11v11 Tyrod looked really good with the #2's today. Cassel looked like Captain Checkdown, Manuel was overthrowing the deep ball down the middle. Cassel seemed to have less zip on his throws than the others, and Simms has a strong arm with limited accuracy. The receivers not named Clay, Watkins, Woods, or Harvin were generally awful today and made the QB's look bad early in practice with some bad drops, Goodwin especially. John Miller is one large man, hopefully his injury is minor. My impression was that Taylor was the sharpest and Cassel was the weakest today.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 @viccarucci My Day Two QB report from #Bills Camp. http://bit.ly/1OH7BLl @JoeBuscaglia Day 2 is in the books, and my, oh my do I have some #Bills practice observations for you. Go on and get you some: http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/7-bills-training-camp-observations-day-2 reading Joe B is hard to do. Man he must have struggled to post this On the second day of practice, EJ Manuel got his turn with the first-team offense and had a blatantly average session. The good part for Manuel, though, is that average was good enough to put him ahead of the player that took Friday’s first team snaps: Matt Cassel. Manuel displayed a good zip on the ball in routes versus air, but then in team drills, showed the inaccuracy that has plagued him, as well as a hesitance to pull the trigger on a deep throw. Cassel, quite honestly, has been a very big disappointment two days into camp. this had to hurt even more He still has the time to turn it around, but he’s missing throws at an alarming rate in a practice setting.

Why does Joe B always have to talk like a hood rat? Who is he trying to relate to? At first I thought it was joking but he comes off as a huge dork #staywoke "Go on and get you some"? PromoTheRobot Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Yikes! @JohnKryk As #Bills QBs continue to struggle ... hell, why NOT give Michael Vick a chance? My column from @buffalobills camp: http://blogs.canoe.com/krykslants/nfl/as-qbs-continue-to-struggle-bills-might-as-well-sign-michael-vick/ Obviously Kryk missed Vick's last few games.

timtebow15 Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 The fact that EJ isn't the unanimous front runner to win the competition is pretty concerning. He was our 1st round pick 2 years ago and supposedly has loads of talent and potential. He's in a competition against 2 mediocre QBs and if he was as talented as people say then he should run away with this thing very quickly. If he doesn't then it's pretty clear that he'll never amount to anything as a QB here. I don't think so. He is still learning the position and Cassel has tons of experience so it's not a run away. Plus my theory about EJ is that, in the same way some players are coach killers, some coaches are player killers. I think Marrone was a horrible coach for a young QB to play for. Could you imagine feeling any confidence working for that tool? Marrone was like the worst boss you remember ever working for. I don't think Manuel got good mentoring at the position which makes a huge difference. For example, I wonder how much of Montana's success was because he played for Walsh?

Kemp Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 McCoy is a little quirky and I think that it has rubbed people the wrong way this offseason. The guy is an absolute superstar though and one of the best players in the NFL. I suspect that once the season starts people will see that. Quirky? Calls his ex-coach racist and that bizarre party. He's a creep and an idiot, but he's our creep and idiot, so we will cheer for him.
Kirby Jackson Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Quirky? Calls his ex-coach racist and that bizarre party. He's a creep and an idiot, but he's our creep and idiot, so we will cheer for him. He's alsointelligent and incredibly charitable. The guy isn't doing anything illegal. He speaks his mind but it's better than the "we need to give it 110% everyday" response that we are accustomed to from athletes. It's odd to me that we want athletes to say what we expect them to say, not how they feel. If he feels like Chip Kelly is a racist, so what? He overpaid a guy that is a racist & dumped his top 3 playmakers in a year (Desean, McCoy, Maclin). I don't agree with McCoy but he's free to have whatever opinion he wants and it's easy to figure out why he feels that way. In terms of the party, it's been beaten to death. Here's a young, multi-million dollar athlete that tried to have a party with a bunch of attractive women. I'm not even sure this is different than Duke Williams (who is in a relationship) DM'ing a porn star. McCoy, to my knowledge, wasn't cheating on his wife or anything. What he was doing was no different than what these guys are doing all of the time. It just went public. He should have prevented it from going public to avoid the public backlash but other than that it's not a big deal.
