Bangarang Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 This NFL Network coverage has so many commercials..
26CornerBlitz Posted August 1, 2015 Author Posted August 1, 2015 @viccarucci Cassel and Manuel hitting most of their throws, mostly short, in 7-on-7 drills at #Bills Camp. @SalSports Special-teams portion: Punt returners are Thigpen, Woods, Jackson.
Kirby Jackson Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 (edited) OMG the sky is falling!!! Noooooooooooo!!!!!🙈🙉🙊🙀😧😱Not trying to chicken little it but what have you seen from these guys that suggests it will change? Cassel hasn't been good in 5 years, EJ has regressed since entering the league and Taylor has barely played. I'm not sure that the wait and see approach will work. I'm hoping for Taylor I guess but he hasn't blown me away either. This team will be a playoff team if they even get the level of QB play that they got last year from Orton. So far, there is nothing to suggest that will happen. I don't see guys getting more accurate. It isn't like the mistakes are coming from learning the plays. They are in one - on - one drills. You can either make the throws or you can't. Edited August 1, 2015 by Kirby Jackson
YoloinOhio Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 (edited) @ChrisTrapasso: #Bills QBs summary: Cassel most consistently shaky/big misses. Tyrod checked down a lot. EJ some strikes/only 2 good deep. 1 drill left. Sounds like Miller is dinged up. Hope it's minor. Edited August 1, 2015 by YoloinOhio
26CornerBlitz Posted August 1, 2015 Author Posted August 1, 2015 @TyDunne Tyrod Taylor getting his chance with the one's. Off play action, he one-hops a throw to an open Goodwin. @SalSports Cory Graham once again getting first team reps at Safety over Duke Williams. Sorry for not mentioning that earlier. We are in the final portion of practice and guard John Miller has not returned to the field. We will get an update after practice from Rex. Cyril Richardson getting the reps in place of Miller.
jimmy10 Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Sounds like Miller is dinged up. Hope it's minor. Yeah, he was off to the side during OL drills working with a trainer. Saw him up close. Didn't look happy, but didn't look too hurt either.

You can either make the throws or you can't. You're right about Cassel as he's a career backup (Orton 2.0) Tyrod Taylor has been a backup and is given a chance to see what he can do. Taylor so far seems like a Kaepernick where he can scramble, make plays with his feet, but seems inconsistent with his throws and has the tendency to tuck the ball in and run too quickly. IMO, Manuel is a glorified rookie who's has has been surrounded by poor coaches since he's been with the Bills. Other players such as Kouandjio and Watkins have said the same thing. It's too soon to give up on Manuel. IMO, this is the best coaching staff the Bills have in place since the Super Bowl teams of the 90's, so let's wait and see how this thing plays out before we hit the panic button.
YoloinOhio Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Oooh @SalSports: Defense. Interesting. Hughes and Lawson line up on same side. Hughes has hand on ground, Lawson standing. Both rush QB. Ahhh screens to the RB @SalSports: Really well run screen pass by the offense. Tyrod Taylor was the QB. Bryce Brown the RB/receiver. It's was 2s vs 2s.

YoloinOhio Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 @ChrisTrapasso: Great deal of safety blitzes in 11 on 11. DBs close to the line often. Tyrod hits Percy on comeback. Then scrambles after would be sack. Yeeee @SalSports: Cassel WR screen to Harvin Who gets up field really, really fast. #HesFast

Hot Buffalo Wings Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Sounds like Woods had himself a good day todayHe's a baller.

I don't agree that's it's too early on EJ. His issues (accuracy & slow eyes) are not things that improve (and they haven't). He's a hard worker and a great guy but there is a reason that many had a mid round grade on him. EJ was a mediocre college player on a team with a lot of talent. He regressed quite a bit last year and has played at least 5 awful games of his 14 starts (SD, Houston, Pittsburgh, TB, Baltimore). This wasn't some "can't miss" guy like Luck. If you compare EJ so far to even guys like Mettenberger and Glennon their performances have been better (much better in Glennon's case). Let me flip the question outside of "he has 14 starts" what is it that is so encouraging to you about EJ? In terms of Taylor the big difference between he and Karpernick is pedigree. One is 6' something, a college star and an early 2nd round pick. The other a later round guy with some tools.
Kirby Jackson Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Ryan on"No, I'd rather see Steve Grogan." Ha ha, Rex is great

When EJ was drafted, it was understood that he was a project player and would need time to develop which is why the Bills brought in Kevin Kolb to be the starter, so Manuel could learn behind. There have been times in Manuel's first 14 games where he's looked good: against Carolina and the 2nd Jets game in 2013 when our top two WR's were out and Goodwin was the #1 WR. And there have been times where he's looked bad, such as the last two games he played. I blame a lot of that on Marrone & co as Marrone wanted an ultra conservative Dick Jauron style offense and really shackled Manuel. Even Rex Ryan stated he felt Manuel was left on his own by Marrone & co.

Unfortunately this team is built to win right now and those windows don't stay open long in the salary cap era. All of the pieces have to come together simultaneously. I believe that if the Bills had Alex Smith (as an example) they would be a Super Bowl contender. They don't need Aaron Rodgers but at the same time they can't have the worst QB situation in the league (which they are arguably now).
YoloinOhio Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 @JoeBuscaglia: John Miller had a bruise on his ankle, but he'll be fine according to Rex Ryan
