bbb
I need a new phone - mainly because the stupid charging port is totally shot again - on my iphone. I saw a commercial for a Galaxy about their new? charging pads. They were mocking out the iphones and the cords, etc. I would stick with an iphone for sure - just because I don't want to learn anything new, and I'm satisfied with it............But, my biggest problem has been the recharging. So, my questions are does anybody have experience with the galaxy charger? Do they make life easier? And, will the iphone have these chargers soon enough anyway that I really shouldn't base my decision on this?
bbb
BTW, I'm upgrade eligible through Verizon. But, does it make any difference if you "upgrade" or just go with another company? It seems like the phones cost the same either way.
mead107
Got to stop pulling on the cord to unplug it. I love my 6 plus

It seems like the phones cost the same either way. If you move to a new carrier there are probably incentives for you to do so. Asl VZW if they will give you a carrot to stay. As for the wireless charger, it depends on the use. It's not like you eliminate the cord altogether, since the wireless charger needs to be plugged in anyway. It does make your desk a bit cleaner if you don't like dangling cords and you save a split second and cord stress by not plugging & unplugging the phone. But is it a deal breaker? Not really. Worked at Verizon, they had sales pitches given to salesmen telling them how to convince customers to stick with Verizon even though prices on upgrades were more expensive than offerings at other companies. Thanks for the info. What type of carrots can they throw in? Yeah, I don't mind the cord that goes into the wall. My problem has always been with my port on the phone - that connection has to be perfect. A little dust in there etc and it screws it up. It always pissed me off and made me think - this whole thing goes down because of a little piece of dust or a pin in there got twisted - that's too sensitive. Miyagi-Do Karate
I would be curious if anyone has experience with Verizon's Motorola droid turbo. Verizon has been trying to get my wife to upgrade from her old iphone 4 to that.

Anything actually worth staying for? What type of iPhone cord do you have? The big 30-pin one? They moved to the Lightning charger, which is a small straight plug-in. There's really nothing to damage in there. I upgraded to the iPhone 6 with Verizon last month after having a dinosaur flip-phone and an iPod Touch for awhile. Get the 64 GB because 16 GB fills up fast; they had to order mine from CA and it took two weeks to arrive. I'm used to it from the iPod, but yes, I'm really liking it. What I'm reading they might be doing with the 7 --- removing the menu button and going to a force-touch glass, among other stuff --- makes me sigh a little at the timing of stuff and obsolete-before-you-get-used-to-it, but... it was time. Tell them you're switching to another carrier unless they toss you an incentive. It's the nature of the game.

Yeah, I have the big one. My hephew was showing me his charger today for the iphone 5 and I see exactly what you're talking about............He also showed me that you can buy this case and pad that work just like the built in charger for the galaxy, so I decided to stick with what I know and will get the iphone 6. I tried ordering it online but they were having technical difficulties - not a good sign! To me - this tech stuff goes too fast. I'm sure I'll be jealous of the 7 when it comes out! Don't order online!! Go to the store or chat with an agent and get the incentive. And yes, lightning adaptors are a lot more durable, but also a lot more expensive. Last phone, I went to the verizon store, and this clown wasn't able to move any of my pics, podcasts, etc. over to the new phone...........I know the apple store people will. But, this system glitch will work in my favor for what you're talking about. I'm going to call verizon and try to get the best deal. I had kind of ditched the idea, because I was looking at the phone prices if you go thru sprint, etc. and they were all the same as verizon. I couldn't say Hey, I'm going to switch to sprint because look at their price. But, I can try to get some deal on the plan, I guess. I just didn't know how to compare apples to apples with that. I wanted them to figure out with me what would be my best plan. I know my current plan is not optimal with me.

bbb
I don't trust myself. And, I'll get all frustrated. The email thing has been pretty tricky with my previous two iphones.
Saxum
What was the pitch? Anything actually worth staying for? No Verizon salesmen were supposed to try to hype their services (most of services have been moved to India to save costs) and downplay recent security leaks where tens of thousands entries of customer information were lost. Saxum
A quote from memo to salesman: We will not compete on price, it is more profitable to our shareholders to find customers willing to pay more for our services.

bbb
So, after about 5-6 weeks or whatever with iphone 6, I still can't get used to the size. I love what's in the phone, but I loved the size of iphone 6 so much better. You never had to move your hand. I hate it. Is there a chance that phones will get smaller again? I think you mean your old 5. I have a 5S and will upgrade next generation. Not thrilled about the larger size. In regards to the charging pad, it seems like a good idea however, I don't see much value on placing it on a pad versus plugging it in. Either way it still needs be be in a certain area close to an outlet.
