Sabres on NBC-NBCSN 5 Times Next Season

This whole thing, where we have been dialed into team's motives so much proves to me what I've always thought - there are way too regular season games.

In the playoffs, you don't question anybody's motives or effort, really. But, hockey to me has always been a game where effort is rewarded the most. I remember in the late 80s, the Flyers being so depleted yet making a playoff run essentially with the Hershey Bears on their team.

So, here we have a JV team, and just because they are mad at the fans, they are all of sudden outshooting teams for the first time all season.

if all the teams were giving their all, we wouldn't have anything to worry about. But, we just faced two teams who are mailing it in............Then, you have teams that are totally set for the playoffs. Are they really going to give it their all over the last few games, just for seeding when it means less in hockey than any other sport?

If there were less games, they'd all be giving full effort. The same applies to the NBA, where Lebron goes to Miami for two weeks, Pop rests his starters all the time (well, only on road games - home teams keep the money from the home attendance)............So, really everybody is tanking in some way.

I'm still not terribly worried. I said after the Arizona win that I could see Buffalo getting 6 points at best down the stretch. I penciled in the Islanders, Penguins, and Blackhawks as losses. Columbus has been red hot down the stretch. If Columbus can beat them too, I think it's all good. I think Arizona has to scratch together at least 2 more points in their last games, and Buffalo is 30th if they end with the same amount of points.

The Islanders and Penguins are still jockeying for position with Washington hot on their tails which is beneficial. Every game should count right through 4/11 for all three teams. Chicago can still catch Nashville and St. Louis, or fall behind Minnesota, so they should also be fighting their way to the end. It all hinges on the Carolina and Columbus games

well this is depressing..was listening to a scout on WGR....he says there most likely will not be a player like McDavid or Eichel for another 10 years....there is a sizeable droppoff from 2 to 3....I think we all knew this but it being reiterated by a scout was painful.

Heard that this morning too. That sold me on Eichel if we don't win the lottery and ratcheted up the anxiety about missing out on both.

That real put a stamp on it for me....i started thinking last night...maybe strome or hanifin wouldnt be that big of a difference from Eichel...those ideas went up in flames quickly

It is just freaking depressing. Big loss in a game, maybe, maybe, the hurt stays around for 2 or 3 days....this hurt is gunna be 15 years.

If the Sabres botch this tanking and we lose out on both of the top picks, it will be worse than Wide Right and No Goal put together, imo.

All of this will have been for nothing. It will just go down as the team being horrible with absolutely no silver lining.

Time for Murray, or even Terry, to step up and pull players.

This pride bull **** coming from the players is pissing me off....where was this pride for the other games...spare me....

if by chance we do pick at #3....i think a real possibility would be a trade with EDM involving Hanifin and Hall

Exactly. There were plenty of piss-poor performances from these players even as far back as last season, and they are all of a sudden going to pull this effort out now?? Even more reason to cut them. Why werent they gutting it out the entire time?

I think nolan's lack of job security has contributed to him not being committed to 30th. If GMTM tells him he will be back next year and he is getting McEichel, he's all in like the Yotes coach. But GMTM doesn't want him back. And Nolan knows that, so is putting himself first.

As Howard was calling it this morning...will be forever known as "The Tank for Nothing " era in Sabres hockey.

We have the Super Bowl era that lasted 10 years or so.

We have had the "no character era" preceding the Tank Era.

We had the "Hasek " era.

We have the PLayoff Drought era right now.

This will always be the Tank for nothing era.
