Correct. The NFL does not have any restrictions about owning an NHL team in the same city.

I don't know if it's an NHL or NFL restriction, but there was something blocking Pegula from buying Connor McDavid's current team, the Erie Otters, about a year ago

Was he trying to buy erie?

yeah the Otters have been up for sale for awhile. current owner racked up some debt from a group affiliated with the Edmonton Oilers who have since sued for ownership of the team

Pegula's name was bounced around last year around the time he was buying the Bills as an interested party.

The Otters pack their arena and would make a ton of money for whoever owns it. Would be a shame to see the Otters relocated

Like...right now...he should be traded for the proverbial box of pucks now.

Have not turned on GR yet, Howard must be having a heart attack.

No matter how hard I cheer it isn't going to change anything...what's going to happen is going to happen...this is killing me!

Yeah, I do know that Katz loaned Bassen a bunch of money and basically tried to trap him into giving him the Otters so he can move them to Hamilton, own the rights to Copps Coliseum, and use that to screw over the taxpayers of Edmonton/Alberta. As far as I know, Bassen isnt willingly selling the Otters though, I could be wrong. I remember hearing rumblings like 2-3 years ago they may relocate to Hamilton (where they were in the 70s and 80s)... but knowing what I know now, that was probably the Katz thing.

anyways,

Let me put some numbers out there.
The Sabres, if holding true to the sample size of the 1st 60 games will win 7.15 games. For sake of pessimism, we will make the .15 a full overtime loss.
So that would put the Sabres at 7-14-1 for the last 22 games or 54 points
Only 4 other teams are currently south of 54 points.
Toronto would have to go 0-22-0 for the Sabres to pass them (clinched tiebreaker in this case)
Carolina would have to go 1-21-2 (assuming Sabres wouldnt meet tiebreaker: all Sabres wins would need to be ROW, none of Carolina's, and losing 2x to Carolina down the stretch)
Arizona would have to go 3-20-0 down the stretch (also assuming a similar unlikely tiebreaker scenario overpassed by Buffalo)
Edmonton would have to go 4-16-1 (assuming tiebreakers held, 5-16-0 if Edmonton gets tiebreaker)

This actually doesn't make me feel any better, i think the Sabres are capable (with the current roster) of hitting those numbers and think Edmonton (after trade deadline unloads) can also hit those numbers. Damn, this sucks...

I don't think the Oilers are net sellers at the deadline. Now, the Yotes , Leafs, and Canes whole other story.

Probably 4 or 5 guys from Edmonton...I can see them at least trying to trade Derek Roy, Pouliot, Purcell, and Ference.

Exactly. Up above somebody mentioned that his trade value is going up. I don't care if it just went from one bag of pucks to two bags. Just trade him!
