26CornerBlitz
@BuffNewsVogl Coaching source says Mike Babcock likes the fact that Tim Murray isn't a daily micro-manager and is often scouting rather than with team.
Bob in Mich
Babcock is a very good coach and certainly an upgrade if the Sabres get him. In my opinion though, the success of the Wings has not been as much about Babcock as about the Detroit front office. Now if TM can replace himself with Holland, we'll really have something. Git er done!

Git er done! Why would they want to replace Murray? This organization is stacked with talent, and much of it is young and moldable.
Bob in Mich
Well, I was joking that TM would replace himself. However, I would make that swap if I could. Proven success counts for more than potential success

The Real Buffalo Joe
I have nothing to contribute by way of sources, analysis or rebuttal. But you've always been for signing Mike Babcock, on the count of the fact that he's good.

QCity
Per John Vogl - contract rumor 5 years, $16m: Yeah, that would be a pay cut from what Detroit is currently offering. The execution on this one needs some work.

Fadingpain
Per John Vogl - contract rumor 5 years, $16m: http://sabres.buffalonews.com/2015/05/19/sabres-money-should-trump-babcocks-love-of-detroit-coaching-source-says/ I was hearing $6 million + per season, which combined with a presumed long term is what it would take to bring Babcock to Buffalo. Sounds like as of 5:13pm Eastern Time this is still far from certain one way or the other. Let's hope we can rope him in.
