Have you noticed that Harrington has, too?

I wonder if the News finally got smart and told them to change strategy.

Just because they didn't like the tank* doesn't mean that they won't love the opportunity to cover the player that Eichel hopefully becomes. The ship has sailed on "complaining" about the tank, so it's time to move on.

*Not that they really were anti-tank. Remember that Bucky said a few years ago that they needed to do exactly that instead of one of those last second pushes at 8th place. There's no personal belief in any of this stuff, they simply write what is going to get the most attention. And what else were they going to write about this past season, puff pieces about Phil Varone?

What tank?

Which is why that ship has sailed. There is no point to write about it anymore so it is now on to new topics for the writers.

Exactly. What would they write -- "Sabres fans, are you happy now?" Umm...yes.

The Sabres and Bills are both owned by Pegula now and are essentially the same management.

IMO it seems there was a lot of resentment between Golisano/Quinn and TBN... it was a feud that carried over to Pegula with the Sabres. TBN kept the thing going, fueled by Pegula's request that they always be positive and also sticking with a sinking ship (Ruff/Regier). TBN is also over the top axe-grinding where it is so obvious. Using sources like 'little birdies' and phrases like 'people around the league are laughing at them' is just terrible journalism. The silly embarrassing baiting and fighting at press conferences... Then add their social media personalities. It is unbearable. I wont pick up TBN because it is so bad and hollow.

But then Pegula froze them out for the most part. Any and all scoops have gone to outside media. Toronto sources consistently scoop TBN on any information. WGR have bought into what the Sabres/Bills are doing and you see the Pegula Empire has been rewarding them. They get interviews, Tim Murray on air, Eichel, they get fed scoops, etc... People want that stuff. TBN cant provide it. Things are looking up for these teams and nobody is going to want the constant negativity and antagonistic stances. People want stuff like that well-written, well researched column by Gleason.

Really good article in the BN on Eichel's background. But they buried the lead. El Pegual uses a flip phone.

Oh oh, kiss of death for the beat writers:

Eichel was raised in a modest white house on a cul-de-sac, where he spent hours wearing out roller blades and street-hockey sticks while circling the quarter-mile track in his neighborhood.

So LABillz is Eichel's dad and he just decided to sit on that bit of news until today?

Paul Hamilton tweets from Today.

Reinhart really impressed me. He seems so at ease this year, he does look bigger and he just sounds confident.

Reinhart said he and Eichel are roommates during this camp.

Glad to hear that. As much as Eichel is the future, Reinhart is a big piece of it as well and could accelerate the rebuild process if he develops quickly. The scrimmage Friday will be sold out and the prospects game as well (rumors are just 2 games against the same team as they did not enter the tournament this year). Sabres looking to host the prospect tournament next year too, lot's of buzz around the FNC. Freaking awesome stuff... Edited by Beerball

Reinhart is a huge piece of the puzzle. Seems willing to do whatever it takes as well (i.e., center or wing).
