Jack Eichel will either return to Boston University next season, or spend all 82 regular-season games at the pro level.

The 18-year-old, who is expected to selected second overall by the Buffalo Sabres in Friday night's NHL Draft, told the Boston Globe he has no plans to sign a contract unless he's promised an NHL spot for the full season.

Unique skills put McDavid, Eichel at top of draft class

By Evan Sporer - NHL.com Staff Writer

The gap between Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel, first and second respectively on NHL Central Scouting's final ranking of the top North American skaters eligible for the 2015 NHL Draft, is slim.

It's the gap between the projected top two picks of the 2015 draft, which will be held at BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla., on June 26-27, and the rest of the field that is a bit wider.

McDavid and Eichel have been touted as generational talents for the success and promise they've displayed. Each offers a different skill set that many project will mesh with today's NHL game.

That's not exactly news.

There will be old timers who say " no 18 yr old is going to dictate where they play...they will play where I tell em to play" and turn this into a prima donna thing.

Couple days ago, was listening to the afternoon show on NHL network with some old time scout and Barnaby were on discussing the draft. The chit they were piling on about Rusdians in particular and Euros in general was unbelievable. I did not know Malkin was responsible for the Penquins sucking...as Syd and Shero are Canadians therefore must be Malkins fault. And what has OV won?

Did not know not a single Russian player cares to win...only to get stats. Euros just don't have the toughness to compete on the smaller ice. Neither one of these guys would draft a Russian, no matter the talent, in round 1 . And Laughlin went along for the ride..he's an idiot too.

Yes, this was two days ago, not twenty years ago.
