Sabres on NBC-NBCSN 5 Times Next Season

Speaking of college hockey, tt's a shame that Mark Adams from Providence won't be getting a contract. His dad would instantly make sabrespace more entertaining. He's the biggest troll there is at one of the larger college hockey message boards. And that says a lot for a board that is mostly populated by immature college students.

Damn, now you have me interested...can you point me in the right direction?

"Future Buffalo Sabres star and Boston University scoring legend Jack Eichel set up Torey Krug and Brock Nelson for the only two USA goals of the game. Eichel was sensational for the Americans. Eichel skated 23 shifts for a combined 16:44 TOI. Watching the 18 year old dominate late twenty and early thirty somethings with his sick skills, excellent skating, man's strength tells me that he is ready to star in the NHL next season. His shovel and dish work on the Nelson goal reminded me of John Tavares and Mike Modano. Seriously, he used his wheels and long reach to strip the puck then instinctively dish it to Nelson for the goal. You can't teach reach. Nor, can you teach fire, desire, and passion. Eichel is a beast. He will be a star in Buffalo for the next decade. All Tim Murray has to do now is put a proverbial ring on Eichel's finger. In due time. Right now, he's busy proving thst he can dominate games played by NHLers and other internatonal professional players.

Hopefully writeups like that have a guy like Babcock interested...

Babcock is fully aware of what Eichel can do already. It's not going to take a random writeup on the internet to make up his mind.

Of course he is, but the more reports that come out confirming how NHL-ready the kid is can't hurt.

@TSNBobMcKenzie

DET has granted Mike Babcock permission to talk to other NHL teams. Window open til late May. Doesn't mean Babcock leaving DET, window open.

@HeleneStJames

Holland says RedWings have made two offers to Mike Babcock, over past week, Babcock said he would like to explore possibilities.

@HeleneStJames

Holland: If another team hires Mike Babcock, #RedWings would get 3rd round pick over course of next 3 seasons. Put date of May 25 on letter.

"Great, we got McDavid!"

Exactly....It would have been so depressing to finish 3rd...

These types of quotes usually mean the bags are packed...very surprising though, I would think coaching the Red Wings is one of, if not the, top HC job in the NHL...But you never know what goes on behind closed doors...

Go ahead Edmonton "Make my day". Now to see where Babcock goes as the Wings gave him permission to speak to other teams today. As much as I would be really happy for Buffalo if they could land him, the Sharks are closer and need him more.

TSN: Babcock permitted to talk to other NHL teams

The NHL's free agent frenzy has begun with head coach Mike Babcock as the headliner.

The Detroit Red Wings have given him permission to talk to other NHL teams about coaching opportunities in a window that is open until May 25. That doesn't guarantee he is leaving Detroit, just that he is exploring his options.

"If there is a better situation out there for Mike Babcock, he's earned the right to explore that," Red Wings general manager Ken Holland told reporters on Friday. "We made a contract offer to Mike last June and couldn't find a solution. I went to him again in January and made another contract extension offer, and Mike felt, at that point in time, that he appreciated the offer but wanted to wait until the end of the year. That was the only conversation that we really had this winter.
