/dev/null Posted July 11, 2015 Author Posted July 11, 2015 Greece's problem is by being in the euro they lost control of monetary policy. Imagine US if we couldn't lower rates ....almost to zero in our case....to drag us out of credit crisis. Good article on it: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/07/10/opinion/paul-krugman-greeces-economy-is-a-lesson-for-republicans-in-the-us.html So what happens if the Fed needs to lower rates again? Do they go negative which amounts to stealth wealth confiscation. If that doesn't work, then what? Bank bail-ins (aka deposit confiscation) like Cyprus?

unbillievable Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 I can't believe how many leftist media outlets are laying blame exclusively on the banks for lending Greece money. It's almost like they forced the government to take the money without their knowledge. What's even worse is that this idea seems to be a popular one; from mortgages, and student loans, to credit cards, etc. Can someone explain to me how you can blame a lender and not the taker? Are people no longer responsible for their own decisions?

Deranged Rhino Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 This sounds mighty familiar... Angry at demands, Greeks rail at German "humiliation" Greeks accused Germany of trying to humiliate them by making tougher demands for a new bailout deal, as the country's fate in the euro zone hung in the balance ahead of a meeting of European ministers in Brussels on Sunday. (snip) "What is at play here is an attempt to humiliate Greece and Greeks, or to overthrow the Tsipras government," Dimitrios Papadimoulis, Vice-President of the European Parliament and member of Greece's ruling Syriza party, told Mega TV. http://www.ekathimerini.com/199359/article/ekathimerini/news/angry-at-demands-greeks-rail-at-german-humiliation

Are people no longer responsible for their own decisions? You'll notice the same people always blaming corporations for corporate influence in government. Cause you know, elected officials have no choice other than to take money from corporate donors and repay them with favorable policy.

Cause you know, elected officials have no choice other than to take money from corporate donors and repay them with favorable policy. It's not about choice. It's about doing the job you're paid to do. The ones who don't play ball aren't even allowed to run, let alone govern.

Too many people with weird apadopalamoulous names or names with a seriously out of whack consonent-to-vowel ratio
