YoloinOhio Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) @BuckyBrooks: Noticing a trend in the @NFL after studying the All-22 from 2015.. Looks like the "small" WR (6-foot or shorter) is back en vogue.. There are a number of reasons for the move back to "small" WRs.. 1. QB needs "escape" artists vs. Bump & Run coverage.. 2. "Small" WRs tend to be better route runners (better body control & short area quickness) 3.The emphasis on "RAC" has coaches looking for "catch & run" specialists ("Small" WRs are typically quicker & more dynamic in open) Edited June 17, 2015 by YoloinOhio
LeGOATski Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Hmmm...i don't feel like they ever went out of style. As with anything else in football, balance is key. By that, I mean having a good mix of sizes in order to take advantage of different matchups. I guess big WRs have been trending for a little while, but it never took away the need for small, elusive guys.

This is why I'm hoping Des Lewis pans out-- a 6'4" guy who knows how to highpoint a ball.
Mr. WEO Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 He's figured this out by looking at the "all 22 from 2015"? Oh Bucky....why don't you also just tell us who wins the SB this season?

You know - your team the Patriots** - unless the front office unfairly punishes them telling referees to make sure of it.
....lybob Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Football is about trends and then being the first team to break the trend - when 5,10 CBs are dominant you want 6,3 + WRs to take advantage, when teams compensate by getting taller CBs you take advantage by getting smaller super quick WRs.

Let's hope it's not the TY Hilton show week 1.

C.Biscuit97 Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 The rules have changed to benefit the small, quick guys. You can't breath on receivers or it's a penalty. Years ago, small guys would get mugged at the line or destroyed if they ran across the middle.
JP's Voice Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Who do you think would be the most productive receive if Watkins, Woods, Harvin, and Hogan were on the Patriots? Aka who would be Brady's favorite target?
