Ex-Broncos guard John Moffitt to return to NFL

Recommended Posts

Seems to be a somewhat talented player but had some demons to battle and never reached his max potential. Now that he is sober and motivated to resume his career, is he worth adding into the mix?

I say why not, you can never have too much competition.

That's not really true. If you have so many people you are trying to evaluate that you're unable to properly assess the players then you can certainly have too much competition.

Well, that might be true to some extent. But the roster has a limit and typically you only have so many guys at each position. So if there is a problem of "too much competition" exists, it exists pretty much all the time, at this time of the year. There really is no downside (other than the possible cap implications) to bringing in guys with more talent to replace guys with less talent (all other things being equal).

That is not an endorsement for bringing in Moffitt. I really have no idea if he is the right fit for this team, or if he has any interest in joining the Bills.

He quit on his team mid-season. I'd have to be pretty hard up to waste a roster spot on him.

I'd also be concerned about how many guys with issues were on the team. Incognito has had his battle with substances as has Seantrel. Adding another to the mix would at least be concerning to me.
