26CornerBlitz
Considering he alluded to the history and origin of blackface in the post you just quoted, I'd say you're mistaken. I'd say you are mistaken. Maybe he doesn't understand it was used in films like Birth of a Nation and other media that certainly were not comedies. Jauronimo
I'd say you are mistaken. Maybe he doesn't understand it was used in films like Birth of a Nation and other media that certainly were not comedies. The genre is irrelevant. These "comedies" in question hardly portray black people in a more positive light than Birth of a Nation. You should probably clarify with Rob where he was going with that comment. I believe Rob's point was whether simply painting your face black is inherently racist. At least I hope that was the question. Maybe I should clarify as well. Rob's House
I'd say you are mistaken. Maybe he doesn't understand it was used in films like Birth of a Nation and other media that certainly were not comedies. Birth of a Nation aside, if they were talking about something remotely similar to that which you are describing it wouldn't be so ridiculous. But it's gotten to the point where anytime a white person dresses up as a black person in any way, a significant contingency of hyper-sensitive douche bags declares it to be highly offensive because it's somehow comparable, in a way they can't explain, to what you're describing. It's nonsensical. If Soul Man with C. Thomas Howell came out today these same dip shots would be outraged. It's this same idiocy that leads little morons like this girl's brother to decry her act as offensive because it's "Blackface" and thus inherently racist. Beerball
I couldn't care less about what she considers herself, but, apparently she once sued Howard University for discrimination.
ExiledInIllinois
Blackface is one of those things that everyone seems to accept as offensive but no one can really explain why. The closest I've seen is that it could potentially remind people of blackface comedy shows of a bygone era. But I guess any excuse is a good excuse for racial outrage.Huh? We don't live in that era. Blackface, yellowface, etc... was meant to dissparge a certain race during that era. It also took acting jobs away from people. It created economic inequity while entrenching common stereotypes. Of course we live in a different era with different racial issues. Your orgin and history of this is totally skewed. If anything, this lady did what black's did an era ago. They straightened their hair, faded their skin, dressed a certain way, etc.. All to fit into the white power structure. Now there seems to be a complete 180. I am not sure that is good... We have shifted to both extremes. It really is the economy, power, and control. I see what you are getting @ w/your last paragraph. Edited June 16, 2015 by ExiledInIllinois

Marv's Neighbor
That was funny in the 70's and it still is today! Quiet, I'm watching Blazing Saddles, and the Roman Empire scenes from History of the World Part I.

KD in CA
And of course, now there's a sex tape.... http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/rachel-dolezal-claimed-forced-sex-tape-article-1.2261643 And naturally if you were embarrassed by the existence of a sex tape, the first thing you'd do is announce it to the national media. It'll be a sad state of affairs for this idiot when her 15 minutes are up.
