truth on hold
Wow....this group will be tough to beat. -------- As Isil works to establish its empire, the jihadists have become fastidious bureaucrats: imposing taxes, paying fixed salaries and imposing trading standards laws in a bid to create a healthy economy that will sustain their autocratic rule. Yet despite brutal punishments for those who break the laws, many Syrian businessmen see Isil as the only option when compared to the anarchy that prevails in areas controlled by other rebels, including Western-backed groups. The model is being applied across Isil territory in Syria, and to such a degree that businesses are now choosing to move their industry into Isil areas. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/islamic-state/11657918/Why-business-is-booming-under-Islamic-State-one-year-on.html?WT.mc_id=e_DM23363&WT.tsrc=email&etype=Edi_Wor_New&utm_source=email&utm_medium=Edi_Wor_New_2015_06_08&utm_campaign=DM23363 Edited June 9, 2015 by JTSP

It's the organization part that's threatening, not just in a militaristic sense ....we've seen that before...its the establishment of legal and commercial frameworks. The order is why people are choosing them over the non-isil "rebels". Have to wonder how isil acquired this sophistication.

keepthefaith
Meanwhile the world will sit and watch while they gobble up territory, form a new state and government and impose a brutal rule of law. Next thing you know they'll be applying for inclusion in the UN and UN leadership will probably be sympathetic. Maybe Obama will be running the UN by then. Saddam was secularist but perhaps they are Sharia Law adherents who were part of his party. Other than where he may be from in iraq and may have gone to school, not much is known about its leader http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abu_Bakr_al-Baghdadi

Read the article a number of the people prefer them to the alternative. And our only effective potential allies against them....Iran, Assad, Hoothis, HeZbollah....we treat as the enemy. truth on hold
You're making a strong case for an American declaration of war.Only to a dufus who thinks the answer to failed policies is an expansion of them. Like your answer to excessive gun violence in America is more guns. No, how about this as a novel approach: America looks out for its own interests and stops supporting false allies? I'm still waiting to see your plan for uninventing the gun, thus magically removing them from the hands of criminals. I'm also waiting for you explaination as to why gun free zones, where guns are completely prohibited, are exponentially more likely to have gun violence commited in them than area's that permit open or concealed carry. Finally, I'm curious as to how energy isn't vital to the US and global economy, and therefor is not vital to our national and individual interests as private citizens. Gun questions answered repeatedly in gun thread....but like I said dufus like you only has one explanation and remedy. As for oil, how much oil do we buy from Israel? Less than 10% of our imports are from Saudis. You really think we couldn't find someone else willing to sell it to us? Like maybe buy a little more from the sellers of the other 90%+? It is a commodity after all, you dufus Edited June 10, 2015 by JTSP

Not the questions I've asked, because you've never been able to answer them, because your fanstasy solution isn't based in any sort of reality. That's becuase you aren't a guy with solutions, you're an unmitigated moron who thinks he can wish away what he considers to be problems if he is just able to muster enough faux indignation on the internet, and watch just enough Russian News videos on Youtube. It is a commodity after all, you dufus If you believe that our relationship with Israel and the Saudis is about how much oil we puchase from them, then you're even dumber than I thought. They are our toehold in the most volitile and hostile place on Earth, which also happens to be one of the major dictators of global energy prices. The only reason energy prices haven't gone absolutely haywire while ISIS runs amok throughout the Middle East and Northern Africa is because massive private armies are holding major port cities in order to facilitate trade. Because Russian Internet News? Also, why is it that every idea you have isn't actually a solution to an existing problem, but is rather an alternative reality in which something was never invented, or someone was never invaded? Remedy pretty simple: base US policy on US interests, not foreign countries. Occupation of Palestine, Saudi Wahabism defeat of Iranian Shi'ites, etc etc ... are not in our interests. What's your idea, more of the same so we can more Syria's, Iraq's, Libyas, Ukraine's on our hands? How's that working out?

Your examples are a list of canards coated thick in prejudicial pro-Islamist language, you aren't even trying to disguise it anymore; and as much as you protest, what we actually do is provide consistency and stability in the region, as long as we maintain an active military presence. That's why global commerce flows when we take an active role, and why is seizes when we leave. And you've still offered no solutions, other than a time machine to take us back to Colonial Europe hoping to prevent British Imperialism. You're doing nothing more than bitching about the end game of events set in motion litterally hundereds of years ago, insisting that the answer is for America to deny geopolitics exist, and vacate the world stage; ignorantly chirping that a well-spring of global goodwill and harmony will magically erupt from the Earth drenching us all in rainbow unicorn farts to fill the vacuum. That's a steaming pile of horse ****. Bad actors leap to fill to void in our absence. ISIS' acendancy in the Middle East is a microcosm of what happens when America abrogates it's duties as the lone global super power and moral actor. In our absence, do you believe China will well steward the global good? Will Russia? You're an idiot.
