FLbills Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Well, the Bills gave up 3 draft picks to acquire Cassel, so I don't believe they will cut him. He brings veteran starter experience and he got to learn from a future HOF quarterback. Doubtful that they will get rid of E.J. due to cap reasons. Plus there is a chance that he may develop and win the job outright. The only possibility would be is if he were traded. Most likely candidate to not make the team but the chances are low, IMO. Tyrod is the unknown by many, but he was hand selected by Rex and has been not doing any worse than the Cassel or E.J.. Whether or not that says a whole bunch remains to be seen but that's a different conversation. IMO Simms ends up on P.S. and will be available if called upon. Of course this is all just my opinion.

We got there's this year and I believe they get ours next year. Edited June 6, 2015 by YoloinOhio

My bad, I even dug up old stories to try and make sure I had my facts right too, lol. http://www.si.com/nfl/2015/03/04/matt-cassel-trade-buffalo-bills-vikings Sorry if the link isn't able to be clicked, I'm on my phone.
tennesseeboy Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Not to nitpick, but what is the purpose of this signing when a proven vet like Mike Vick is out there? I get the idea of a "camp arm", but when there's no proven starter on this roster, why not sign someone to make this a serious competition? I'm leaning 90-10 that Simms will be cut before the season starts, and I get his ties to Rex from his Jets days, but I think that's all this is and essentially serves no purpose. This team is a game-manager-at-best/ don't-lose-the-game QB away from contending for the division (with New England behind the eight ball for the first month...well, til June 23rd, anyway). Why not be a little more damn serious about it?! Just seems as if the organization is going through the motions with this Quarterback "competition". I hope I'm wrong...but I suspect Ryan is less than impressed with the three qbs we have right now and he is still looking. Nobody seems to be raving about any of the three we have, even on this board...I don't think bringing Matt Simms is in a good sign.
Malazan Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Not to nitpick, but what is the purpose of this signing when a proven vet like Mike Vick is out there? proven terrible? Vick is god awful. He's not even worthy of holding camp fodder's jockstrap at this point.
Maury Ballstein Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 The bring Mike Vick in stuff makes me laugh everytime. He's a raging dumpster fire of a qb.
papazoid Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Seriously. Whats the point of any of us??? to be, or not to be
HOUSE Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 He is better then most people here believe.......he makes this team. Wait and see
PromoTheRobot Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 The bring Mike Vick in stuff makes me laugh everytime. He's a raging dumpster fire of a qb.Exactly. The Bills need some drama. Things are going too well.
BarleyNY Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 whats that mean? Existential. i mean what does i really mean? Exceptional response. Simply outstanding The bring Mike Vick in stuff makes me laugh everytime. He's a raging dumpster fire of a qb. Exactly. The Bills need some drama. Things are going too well. Exactly. Age has robbed Vick of what he brought to the table. He was always going to suck as a QB once his athleticism went.

Chandler#81 Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 My take; our Bills are looking to progress from their 1st winning season in a decade, however 'shady' that may have been. They look to do so in spite of yet another whole-scale change of coaches & schemes, with as many as 7 new starters on offense -including QB, at least 1position change and as many as 5 position changes on Defense, while saying goodby to the luxury of a KO specialist. To compound the unlikelyhood of this desire, they open the season against the 2 AFC Conference Championship teams & SB winner. Conference game losses were their Achilles Heel last year. With all this is mind, we simply Can't 'Introduce Tyrod' on such an important and Grand Stage. Despite everything (excuses?) being said about Manuel, the last time we saw him play meaningful football, he was a basket case and had lost his team. Tuel was finally jettisoned. That leaves Cassel's veteran savvy for these 2 (too?) crucial games. I'm convinced he'll be Day 1starter, though not the long term solution. Which brings us to Simms. You could say we need a 4th arm in order for these dual field exercises to work well, but the kid can play -better than Tuel. Here's where my grief comes: he played better in one nearly complete preseason game than EJ ever has -all the way back to high school. He has proper technique and -unlike all the QBs on the team, serious pro pedigree. He's got a blazing, accurate arm and understanding of the game. We may carry 4 into the start of the season, but I believe one will eventually be cut -and I think Matt Simms stays.

3rdand12 Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 why do we have 90 players on our roster when we only need 53? Why can we only have 53 when we really need ninety , i might ask ? Essentially, you're placing EJ fourth down the depth chart? This is my question also. I do agree about the Tyrod starting. Manuel has more exp than TT playing. Cassel should be a dependable back up unless EJ just cant take that step pre season. If he cant ! : ( he should get pushed down the ladder. we really have a mystery at QBs. Keeps it interesting during the offseason for us though. lotsa chatter about what ifs !
Chandler#81 Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Essentially, you're placing EJ fourth down the depth chart? I guess, without trying though. I know what I've seen in him and nothing short of a miraculous, unforeseen 360 degree turnaround, could I buy into any other assessment. He speaks well. That's all I've seen..
bigK14094 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 (edited) Sims is a good pickup, since we still don't know if EJ or Tyrod can play. Cassell can play.....maybe not at a high level all the time, but he will have his moments as his 11 year career demonstrates. Edited June 7, 2015 by bigK14094
