26CornerBlitz Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 If Darby proves that he is a capable corner I would give Leo his walking papers. He's not worth his high contract. This year? I wouldn't and I think you underrate how good Leodis "My Man" has been the last couple of seasons.

Over 29 years of fanhood Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 I am for anything that keeps Graham from playing man coverage outside. He got beat deep by RYAN FITZPATRICK!!! And I mean toasted... Just digest that But when he's 15 yards off the line and can keep his eyes toward the qb, he makes some nice plays. Like AW maybe he should have been a safety all along...

When he was younger I think he wanted to stay at cb (most do).

When he was younger I think he wanted to stay at cb (most do). Makes sense... I know he was a probowler in Lovies Tampa two, and obviously big in the Ravens bowl run as a nickel. Im excite to see it as it seems to emphasize his strength (zone ballhawk) and mitigate his weakness (slow among the corners)
Big C Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Interesting that Leo is making less than some nickel CBs. We re-signed him before Pettine and Henderson came to town. I think at the time we were all thinking "why are we giving him so much money?" And then he played the best two years of corner in his career. Go figure.
YoloinOhio Posted May 30, 2015 Author Posted May 30, 2015 We re-signed him before Pettine and Henderson came to town. I think at the time we were all thinking "why are we giving him so much money?" And then he played the best two years of corner in his career. Go figure. CBs, even mediocre ones or those who cant cover on the outside (I.e. Buster Skrine) are getting huge contracts on the open market. There is a limited # of Nfl ready CBs coming out of college due to all the spread offenses. That's why it truly was smart to extend a guy like Leo. I don't want to see him returning punts anymore because of his fumbling issues but he's more than affordable this year as a CB. I do think Darby will eventually replace him next year so they can roll his salary into the deal they give to lock up Gilmore. Graham could be gone in 2016 as well in that effort, especially if Duke steps up at safety this year.
K-9 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Don't look for Ryan to play much zone, regardless where our DBs line up. GO BILLS!!!
YoloinOhio Posted May 30, 2015 Author Posted May 30, 2015 Don't look for Ryan to play much zone, regardless where our DBs line up. GO BILLS!!! he was forced to play zone last year, a lot, for the first time. It had to have killed him.

Maury Ballstein Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Mckelvin rules. This slander has my ears burning.
WhitewalkerInPhilly Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 he was forced to play zone last year, a lot, for the first time. It had to have killed him. I think that has a lot to do with it. Rex really prefers to play bump and run man coverage, and now he has three corners who can do it (Gilmore, McKelvin and Darby)
K-9 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 he was forced to play zone last year, a lot, for the first time. It had to have killed him. No doubt. His system is predicated on press man at the corners. His stubbornness in that regard probably cost him a few games last season. Ironically, it was their first game against us that probably convinced him to change things up. It's not as easy as it seems, though, to just shift gears and install major new elements to your scheme in mid season. GO BILLS!!!
Luxy312 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Graham to safety makes sense for one huge reason that many are missing. Rex Ryan is the master of mixing his blitz packages. The Bills got most of their pressure on opposing QB's last season and the season before that with their front 4. Rex will have the Bills blitzing. They must therefore have the best coverage guys that they have on the field, and Graham is one of those guys. It's also why they drafted Darby. It's simply logical.
