If the NFL and Goodell have finally started the process to not being a sham, he stays at 4 games.

If Goodell is still a sham he made a wink nod deal for Kraft stepping back when he didn't need to at all it gets cut to 2.

If there is no deal, Brady may get one game taken off, although he shouldn't. There is no way they can reduce his games from the part that dealt with obstruction. It's a proven fact he lied, it's a proven fact he was not cooperative. There is no basis whatsoever for reducing that part of his suspension which from all indication was 2 of the 4 games.

I think it stays at 4. There is a decent chance it goes to 3.

IMO he'll throw the PA a bone (per usual)

Wrong IMO. The suspension, again IMO, has an appeal and step down built in. This is, to me, a 2 game suspension. Reducing the weeks gives the impression that the league is sympathetic and willing to listen and compromise with the players and their association.

The league does not want to come off sympathetic. They want to come off fair and not catering to anyone. So far what we all thought would happen has not happened...yet people still think there is some sort of back room deal going on. If goodell steps off the appeal it will look as favoritism, if he stays and its lowered its favoritism. I think the suspension stays right where it is. If they lower brady's suspension but the nfl fought to keep rice and petersen out of the league what does that show? You may think this is a 2 game suspension but the league has painted itself in a corner with how they have to handle this. To win an appeal you have to show they got it wrong the first time by presenting some type of evidence. What is Brady's defense going to be? Uhhh I didn't cooperate, I lied to the investigators and there are a bunch of texts and convo between me and the ballboys that shows possible cheating. He would have to discredit all the texts somehow and I don't think he can. He can't just go in there and say...this is unfair.

Why? He's in the right. They are in the wrong. They trick to humiliate him and the league with no less than four ridiculous denials that were an embarrassment. The Pats realized Kraft couldn't fight this so they backed down. The vast vast majority of the public opinion and your fans are on your side. There is no good reason for him to throw a bone regardless of his friendship with Kraft. Kraft spit in the face of his friendship at least twice.

fair & not ceding to anyone are at odds. Rather than sympathetic I'll steal your word. They want to appear fair and evenhanded.

If he goes to court which I sincerely doubt, the judge will say you lied, you obstructed, they can punish you with whatever they want to, you can come here and say you were treated unfairly but you have zero case to get this thrown out that you were treated unfairly when you clearly lied and clearly did not totally cooperate. I don't think people realize what the court option is.

Also, if he goes to court the first thing he has to do is turn over his phone in pretrial discovery.

As I indicated upthread, going to court won't be about overturning the suspension, it will be about Goodell as the sole judge/jury/executioner. Brady*'s not going to turn over anything to anyone.

I went for a visit to the dark side and found this little gem.

Great work Promo. For your scholarly work in proving that denial is not just a river in Egypt...

My God, are they morons.

Yes, there are two separate "going to court" scenarios in the appeal. The first one would be the Goodell thing. I don't think that has a chance to even happen. Goodell seems to have good grounds to handle the case.

The second one is to challenge the actual appeal after it happens, which brings in the turning over of the phone and I don't really think that is going to happen either.

The "appeal" itself, however, which is separate from the court issue, is what where he won't get reduction on the obstruction element. He won't get it turned down on the I was treated unfairly case in either the court or the appeal. He MAY get a reduction from 2 to 1 games on the actual cheating part, although there is no reason to, which would cut it from 4 to 3. The NFL and science proved he cheated.

Yeah, any reduction is really unjustified because the penalties for the two distinct phases of this issue -- 2 games for participating in the deflation scheme, 2 games for obstructing the investigation -- are both reasonable.

That's not it and don't click the link to try.

At first I thought they restricted to members only. I'm sure they banned Promo once he was outed as a non-fan and so we'd have to be reliant on WEO for updates. I thought maybe they'd take down the restriction after a while but when I clicked it just now it linked to some sort of porn dating site instead. They sure seem to love their echo chamber and they obviously are familiar ways to find services they require over the internet.

Oh, I'm sure that's going over real well in Pats**land.

Brady*'s rep -- tainted.

I think there's about a 0.00001% chance that suspension is reduced. If stuff like this is being leaked, what information do you think Vincent and Goodell really know?
