Beerball Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I'm not a big horse racing fan, only been to the track once, but I do try to watch the triple crown races. Anyhoo...Dave Johnson's "& down the stretch they come!" would give me chills every time. Got one?

eball Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 (edited) Such-and-such team has scored x "unanswered points." Absolutely hate it. What is wrong with saying "x consecutive/straight points" or "the last x points?" The only truly "unanswered" points are points that end a game. Lazy broadcasting. Edit -- after reading the first few replies it looks like I should have put this in the "pet peeves" thread instead. Edited May 17, 2015 by eball

ExiledInIllinois Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 "He's on the roof looking for his jock." "Boy! Did he get buggy whipped." "Katy bar the door!" Oh... Wait. Those are full blown "Robieisms"... Just keeping it real... boogity boogity boogity I just heard the old Ray Stevens song: The Streak, probably for the first time in 40 years... Is that where NASCAR gets it from? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stvrWdFijZc
CowgirlsFan Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Steve Busby of the Texas Rangers TV crew sometimes describes a pitch as "he fisted him"
Howard Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 I like it when the announcer says "gentlemen, start your motors". Been watching races for years and that always gets me going.
ExiledInIllinois Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Steve Busby of the Texas Rangers TV crew sometimes describes a pitch as "he fisted him" Hawk Harrelson of The Sox has a ton of them... "Catbird seat" "He gone!" Ever go to a race? What driver did you follow? He probably followed Junior Johnson. I just looked him up, he's still kicking! ;-)
Buftex Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 I hate when football announcers use the (non) word "defensed". The first I remember using this "word" was Troy Aikman, and it seems the norm now. They say, "that pass was well defensed"....the correct word is "defended". Defensed is not a word. Just stop it!

Buftex Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Haha-- did he really say that? Man, I love that guy. I think he said it to Brandon Spikes, if memory serves..
