YoloinOhio Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 A closer look at the NFL's proposed changes to extra points and 2-point conversions http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2015/5/14/8606045/nfl-rule-changes-2015-extra-point-conversion-spring-meetings "When the NFL spring meetings get underway in San Francisco on May 18, the league's 32 owners will vote on three proposed rule changes that would change the extra point and the two-point conversion."
PaattMaann Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Proposal 3 is what the league should do Back the extra point up to a 33 yard kick, keep the two pointer from the 2 yard line Gives teams pause to take the "automatic" extra point
Wagon Circler Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Keep the 2 pointer from the two yard line. Back the extra point up to the 20.
Doc Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Leave it the way it is. That way if an EP hold gets muffed, you can still run it in for 2. And the EP has always been a gimme.
KD in CA Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Awesome -- can't wait for more games to be decided by missed extra points.
BuffaloHokie13 Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Don't we lose some room for strategy when the extra point isn't from the same place as a 2-point conversion?
Metal Man Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 I hope they leave it how it is now simply because Bellicheat** has been one of the loudest voices calling for it to change. That being the case likely means that he has plans for some new method of gaming the system in the works that will almost certainly end up stiffing the Bills in some way as well as the rest of the league.
Johnny Hammersticks Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 I don't really see the point in changing it. My thoughts as well. Why?
dave mcbride Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Why not simply eliminate the kicked XP altogether and make the current 2 pt conversion a 1 pt play that every team tries every time?
Rob's House Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Awesome -- can't wait for more games to be decided by missed extra points. That was my thought. If they're going to make a change I'd rather do away with it altogether and make the extra point automatic unless you go for 2.

Manther Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 I think it is all silly. It is not broken, don't fix it!
Coach Tuesday Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 My issue with the current XP format and the new kickoff format is that you have two kicking plays in a row in which the result is 99% automatic (kick is good, touchback). It takes away from the pace and excitement of the game, especially following a score. I'd welcome any change to that sequence.

Then you throw a couple commercial breaks in between and it makes for an extremely tedious break in the action. The real change they need to discuss is making kick offs relevant again.
