Once upon a time many football players had necks bigger than their heads (linemen, linebackers and fullbacks mostly) not so much anymore - why do you think that is?

Maybe their necks stayed the same and their heads got bigger?

 

Either way, I blame the Patriots*.


If the necks have gotten bigger, maybe we can point to the introduction of Japanese training methods in the NFL?

Actually, no.

 

I just remember when the Raiders would play the 'niners, and my dad and I would grab a jar of pepperoncinis and watch the "neck off" between Williams and Hanks.
