....lybob Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Once upon a time many football players had necks bigger than their heads (linemen, linebackers and fullbacks mostly) not so much anymore - why do you think that is?
The Real Buffalo Joe Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I'm not sure why this is labeled a silly question. This is a very serious matter that needs a full investigation.
thebandit27 Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I was certain that this would be a Merton Hanks thread...

Just in Atlanta Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 (edited) Maybe their necks stayed the same and their heads got bigger? Either way, I blame the Patriots*. If the necks have gotten bigger, maybe we can point to the introduction of Japanese training methods in the NFL? http://www.tofugu.com/2013/11/11/wacky-japanese-exercise-equipment-gets-your-face-in-shape/ Or maybe thin necks are in fashion? http://www.bored.com/articles/15-incredibly-long-necks-you-wont-believe-are-real/ Edited May 7, 2015 by Just in Atlanta

LB3 Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Honorable mention to Harvey Williams: You must have googled "Merton Hanks neck" too. That pic came up in the images for it.
thebandit27 Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 You must have googled "Merton Hanks neck" too. That pic came up in the images for it. Actually, no. I just remember when the Raiders would play the 'niners, and my dad and I would grab a jar of pepperoncinis and watch the "neck off" between Williams and Hanks.
