DrDawkinstein Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Came across this article today, and thought it might help provide some clarity on the different levels of stupidity we see around these parts. I thought it was interesting to learn that the terms Idiot, Imbecile and Moron were all originally medical definitions for people with certain IQ ranges. Idiot ranges from 0-20, Imbecile 21-50, and Moron 51-70. So while "idiot" is the lowest on the scale, it is also looked at as a rite of passage and even an honor around these parts. Thus confirming Tom's assertion, since only an idiot would be proud to be called one! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imbecile Go Bills!
Johnny Hammersticks Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 I am aware of these terms, as the words "teachable" and "trainable" were once used to describe differing levels of cognitive impairment. Can you imagine? "Well Mrs. Gunderson, the good news is that cognitive testing indicates that Timothy is a Moron and not an Idiot, so there is hope that he will find his place in this world."
DC Tom Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 But I'll bet you didn't know that "pedantic supercilious anal orifice" was originally a medical term for people with an IQ above 175.
