Chris Brown: Top 3 NFL Draft developments - April 7th

A top QB prospect had his pro day close out the pre-draft workout circuit and one of the best all-around defensive line prospects was mocked to the Bills.

1 – QB Paxton Lynch performs
It was the final day of the exhaustive pro day circuit for NFL scouts on Wednesday and there was a headliner at Memphis in QB prospect Paxton Lynch. The 6-7, 244-pound quarterback didn’t have the best throwing session at the NFL Combine, so there was pressure for him to show improved accuracy and mechanics at his pro day.

2 – Kiper mocks DL Lawson to Bills

3 – Sleeper with versatility
The Bills are expected to address their pass rush at outside linebacker sooner rather than later, but there’s nothing wrong with grabbing a secondary option late in the draft. One day three possibility could be Vanderbilt OLB Stephen Weatherly.

I posted my newest mock draft. Goes up to the #Bills second round pick. SEC lovers will like this: https://t.co/rC5dh5fGDK

19) Bills2_1427903793815_15962939_ver1.0.gif - DL A'Shawn Robinson, Alabama

- With both Darron Lee and Reggie Ragland off the board, some sort of defensive lineman could get an extended look by the Bills. Many have linked the Bills with Jarran Reed, but in a league that features base defenses less and less, I don't believe he's even the best fit from his own college defensive line. Reed is a two-down run-stuffer, which serves a purpose. However, with the potential and versatility that A'Shawn Robinson provides, he becomes someone to keep in the front of your mind as a potential Bills pick. Robinson can play five-technique defensive end in a 3-4, he can slide inside to nose tackle, he can be a defensive tackle in even-man fronts, too. Basically, with a combination of Robinson and Marcell Dareus, you can move both pieces all over the place along the defensive line. Plus, with Kyle Williams and Corbin Bryant both entering the final year of their contracts, it would be prudent for the Bills to act now on the defensive line.

49) Bills2_1427903793815_15962939_ver1.0.gif - S Keanu Neal, Florida

- A different position for the Bills with their second-round pick than I've done in any of the other mock drafts, but, the value makes the most sense here. The Bills are depending on Aaron Williams to play this season -- that much is certain. Past him, there are quite a few questions in regards to that position. Corey Graham, in his first season as a safety, struggled to adapt to the life at that position. The Bills found out early in the summer that Duke Williams wouldn't be able to help them defensively, and they walked away from Bacarri Rambo. The team did add Robert Blanton to compete for a job, but, he's only signed for one season. Keanu Neal is one of the biggest hitters in the draft, and also one of the better athletes from the safety position. His 132-inch broad jump and 38-inch vertical shows just how explosive of a player he is, and he could push to be the complementary option to Aaron Williams, or whoever the Bills deem ready enough to start. A competing inside linebacker for Zach Brown can be had in the third or fourth round.

Nice to see Mayock finally giving Justin Simmons some love; he's been largely ignored by the mainstream draft analysts.

I also don't think it's a coincidence that Dan Jeremiah--another draft analyst that's had GM offers--tweeted just this week about how he thinks Simmons will be a solid starter in the NFL.

As we draw closer to the draft, the cream is starting to rise--my hopes of getting Simmons in the 4th appear to be overly ambitious.

Don't assume the Browns have to take a QB at No. 2. With holes to fill everywhere, and a QB class that doesn't exactly wow, taking Jalen Ramsey sure makes sense.

BUF.png19. Buffalo Bills

Laquon Treadwell, WR, Mississippi: We've had Robert Nkemdiche in this spot in every iteration of our mock draft, but with Treadwell dropping, that changes. The Bills have one of the weakest wide receiver groups in the league, but pairing Treadwell with Sammy Watkins would be extremely difficult for defenses to deal with.

Paxton Lynch builds on his #NFLDraft momentum. What else did we learn Wednesday? http://on.nfl.com/1SQJBbX

CfYxUR0WEAAErt3.jpg
Texas A&M: Ifedi sharp; Williams transitioning

Big draw: OL Germain Ifedi

Don't forget: P Drew Kaser

Utah State: Big numbers at USU Big draw: LB Kyler Fackrell

Don't forget: WR Hunter Sharp

I am reading more good things about both Ifedi and Fackrell. I am starting to think i would be just fine Kyler

Is it wrong to like this mock ?

"It's not hard to imagine Rex Ryan falling in love with him and believing he can flip him around."

Really getting tired of this consensus with some about Rex and his adopting strays

Oh wow I really dislike that one...

Because?

Well...Where to start...

It's really more about the strategy for me than it is the actual players...I really dislike the idea of going LB, S at the top of this particular Draft for the Bills...I feel like this is one of the best D-line Drafts we've seen...The Bills are a couple players short along the D-line...They need an infusion of talent and youth there...And the top 75 or so in this Draft is REALLY deep in Defensive line talent...I think if the Bills get the right two players to add to a rotation that already includes Dareus, KW, Bryant, and Hughes they can bring this Defense back big time...I also think there is plenty of mid-to-late-round talent at LB and Safety in this Draft to fill in the holes...

I'm not a big fan of taking a smallish LB in the 1st round when there is this much D-Line talent in the Draft...I'm of the mind that LB's can be had later...If the Bills were to take Lee over D-linemen like Dodd or Lawson I would be less than thrilled...I'm not crazy about Lee's size...And while I can see him as a nice match-up option for TE's I wonder if he'll hold up vs the run...

Joseph is a good player...But a smaller Safety in the 2nd Round coming off a knee injury does not get me too excited...

Hargrave and Ward are good long range prospects...But you don't need them if you take better, more talented, D-linemen in the 1st and 2nd rounds...

I do like the Cardale Jones Pick... B-)
