Right now I am still formulating that.

First choice would be a QB. A good backup QB is worth more than a lot of starting positions and good QB's will be regularly worth $30M soon. The value of the position dwarfs all others.

With the realization that the Bills won't do that.......I like Myles Jack but he won't be there at #19. I would be looking to trade up for him but not using next years #1. I think the perceived value in rounds 2 thru 4 might make it easier than expected to move up closer to #10 though should he slip.

To me, he offers All Pro type value in RR scheme but translates to any scheme at a pro bowl level at least.

Pass rusher is my #2 priority position...Dodd looks very good, I like the huge upside and he is scheme versatile........I think he may go the way of Ziggy Ansah on draft day though because his ceiling is as a monster $20M pass rusher.

I've gotta' watch some more video of some of these guys with inside pass rush potential and scheme versatility.....I don't like the Alabama guys there, they are not pass rushers and could get redundant in a hurry if the Bills converted to a 4-3 under a new coaching staff in 2017..........but from what I've seen I don't really see anybody pop out to me like Aaron Donald did and they keep invoking his name.

I'm very interested to see how Treadwell does at his pro day.........I wouldn't reach for need but if he shows some explosiveness to go with the rest of his polished game......well the #1 need of the team in general is a WR2 to help further prop up Tyrod so aside from Jack he might be able to provide the most initial bang for the buck to boot. Tyrod is capable of great production but is probably never going to be the type to dissect a defense by throwing to 7 different guys every game so he needs quality targets who get open and can run the routes that Tyrod throws best.

I view Tyrod as a power hitter with a couple holes in his swing..........he really needs protection batting 3rd in the lineup. Sammy is his cleanup hitter.......now they need some more table setters in front to make it hard to not throw him strikes.

Of course I add weight to the key positions so LT and CB are priorities as well........and one of the top prospects there may slip.

We are changing to 34 and I don't think we even have NT on the roster right now. Is someone worth it at 19?

I wouldn't draft Ted Washington at #19 in todays NFL.

You just can't use high picks on run defense specific players.

The money positions are those that boost your passing game(where the Bills are one of the least effective teams in the league) and disrupt the opponents passing game(where the Bills had their lowest sack total in almost 40 years).

Damon Harrison was the prize NT in FA and just got grossly overpaid........but even his bloated deal is about half of what a pass disruptive DT is worth.

You gotta' find those NT's in later rounds or in cheap free agency. They are scheme specific and even most 2 gapping D's only play their NT about 50% of snaps anymore so there is a relatively good supply and light demand.

My GUESS is that Rex will be lobbying for DJ Reader by the third round.....still too early for my liking, but it's just a guess based on the Bills showing a tendency to get real "NEEDY" in round 3......Kelvin Sheppard, TJ Graham and John Miller come to mind as reaches for need in round 3 by Whaley/Buddy. Reader probably offers more value than those guys, at least.

"I think it's the best program in the country." Bills head coach Rex Ryan on his son Seth, a holder for the Tigers.

This is why Rex will never be a good coach; he can't see things as they are but over-evaluates "his guys", in this case his son's team.

College Pro Day Reports: Clemson and Mississippi State

As the College Pro Day schedule rolls along, two of the bigger schools held their open event for the NFL today – Clemson and Mississippi State.

Both of these colleges have a number of high profile draft eligible prospects expecting to get picked and each feature a few names that could see themselves off the boards as early as day one, Clemson in particular.

He might be a bit of a homer, but...Clemson is in the discussion for best program in the country.

Bills on hand for Ohio State Pro Day

The Bills are a virtual lock to be represented in some fashion at each and every major pro day, and the situation is no different for the Ohio State pro day with a couple of key offensive coaches on hand.

Both quarterbacks coach David Lee and offensive coordinator Greg Roman are on hand to watch QB Cardale Jones throw. That’s because Jones did not throw at the NFL Combine last month after suffering a hamstring injury during his 40-yard dash. He was the only QB not to throw in Indianapolis.

@AlbertBreer

A few things from Ohio State Pro Day ...

1) Bosa improved his bench and 40, but scouts LOVED his competitiveness. Did everything asked. Pleaded to do LB drills after DL drills.

2) Braxton Miller ran in the mid-to-high 4.4s, per a number of clubs' watches. Teams have noted how he's evolved as a WR even since Mobile.

3) Ezekiel Elliott continues to check off every box. Very impressive as a receiver today.

4) Cardale Jones' arm impressed, like everyone thought it would, and his movement was good too. Questions on him come elsewhere.

5) My belief now is there are clubs that would take Eli Apple over Vernon Hargreaves. He won't go before Ramsey, but could be 2nd DB taken.

6) Most of what the scouts saw confirmed what they knew, but if there was one guy who had an average day, per NFL folks, it was Vonn Bell.

College Pro Day Reports: Ohio State

The College Pro Day schedule moved on to Ohio State University today and while the free agency frenzy may have have the attention of many fans, for NFL teams, the Ohio State Pro Day is one of the most important dates on the calendar.

With representatives from all 32 teams in attendance, the Ohio State Pro Day is perhaps the most popular of all of these events, drawing a huge crowd,

PICK 19

BUF.png

Kevin Dodd - DE, Clemson

Now that Mario Williams is gone, the Bills must find a strong-side pass rusher. Dodd's build and his upside as a three-down player make him a nice fit.

49. Buffalo Bills: A'Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama

80. Buffalo Bills: Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State

117. Buffalo Bills: Rashard Higgins, WR, Colorado State

139. Buffalo Bills (compensatory selection): Beniquez Brown, OLB, Mississippi State
